  1. Just make sure it doesn't have intergrated graphics. A low-end graphics card should run it fine. Runescape isn't all that demanding.
  2. That will be why. Intel GMA chipsets aren't that good at all for gaming, and hog your RAM too. It's worth getting dedicated graphics if you can afford it (on a new computer.) It depends on the computer. A $3000+ Alienware/Dell > a $600 Dell. I would imagine that Dell puts a bit more effort into their pricey computers.
  3. The Swan Song quest is a bit out of my reach for now. Thanks anyway :D I'm not really into powerlevelling, but I'll keep this in mind in case I ever decide to go straight to sharks. By the way, I'll be cooking the fish too. It reduces the money, but I need the cooking XP.
  4. Simple question, in theory. At 69 fishing, should I fish lobsters or swordfish? Swordfish should (hypothetically) give better money and XP, but I'm not sure about tuna, and if it's worth it.
  5. The guest article was great. I hadn't looked at Runescape that way before :(. The editor's article was interesting to read, but I can't really comment as I don't do boss monsters (look at my combat ;).)
  6. Not "priceless" in a literal sense, but it would be over <$1000 before I would consider selling it (time spent + I don't like RWT...)
  7. [hide=OT quote] While I'm not 100% on the details, the fact is that the channel advertising deal with Jagex *is* a substantial one, and in these hard economic times when fewer might be likely to find the money for an online game in increasingly tight budgets, the F2P side of RuneScape could become an even bigger earner for Jagex. Sadly, there are Members on the forums who don't read the MMO Industry News, and aren't aware of just how valuable the F2P player is to Jagex, and that's more than likely why Jagex has added forum access given Jagex wants to promote and improve it's free game. Please don't let the short-sightedness of a few disgruntled members, stunt the game, and as a result potentially harm both the growth of F2P and Member games. [/hide] For the record, I'm P2P.
  8. Ditto. Of course, I'll tele if it's between cities, since I hate needless walking.
  9. To an extent, yes. Some people do abuse bugs when they know they'll be consequences (6/6/06,) but then it's likely that they are doing it "for the lulz."
  10. Some of us like deriving pleasure from other people's misery ;) Hopefully these all come out soon - they are minor fixes, but minor annoyances too. I hope he doesn't spend the whole of this week banning cheaters :|.
  11. Wow... That's like half my total >.> Good luck! Not one step backwards :D
  12. There's information in the other thread. Which I've copied here [hide=Potential bug abuse (no directions, but it's touchy)][yt]7UCUf87b8BE[/yt][/hide] Anyway, I can see them doing one of three things (that said, I've been out of the loop for a while: ) 1. Bans for everyone. People who abused it get a ban, severity depending on abuse (which is what they SHOULD do) 2. Ban the people who did it in large amounts, ban people in clans, name and shame (in short, huff and puff, but do little on the people who only moderately abused it.) 3. As two, but only the people who REALLY abused it. It's likely one and two will lead to riots ("ZOMG Jagex is screwing over teh pkers!!!!!one!") - the RSOF thread has been heading in that direction. Which is... interesting. It's a shame that people opposed to cheating can't get the amount of players they'll be able to.
  13. Depends on the skill: [*:3vp1olsv]For smithing, yeah. I can't really afford buying all my ores and I would rather good mining + smithing (as I can mine my ores for when I need them, and I'm not at the mercy of merchants.) I haven't trained ether in a while, however. [*:3vp1olsv]I fish my lobsters then cook them for the fishing XP. It's how I make money (so I guess that counts?) Other then that, I'll usually buy things like runes for powerlevelling magic, but I do most of my resource collecting myself.
  14. Morally wrong, perhaps. It's a bit like insider trading in real life - "our (shares/coal) is about to fall, SELL!" It's obviously not against the game rules yet. Merchanting itself doesn't equal price manipulation - one can simply read the graphs, get a feel for supply/demand, and work from there, but when you've got hundreds of players screwing over the rest of us because they can afford to buy out all the (insert commodity here,) THEN we have a problem. Price manipulation wouldn't be a problem if "fair trade" was removed, and we went back to "free trade," but then we'll have more problems with macro-ers. It's a double-edged sword, I guess (and I would much rather no macroers.)
  15. Pretty much (especially the bolded bit.) It's all pretty subjective. For me: n00b (low-level) - A player who acts like a [beep], asks "free stuff pl0x," and is generally annoying. More extreme examples may scam. n00b (med-high level) - Acts like a jerk to those who are only a few levels lower then them (ie: "GTFO level 64" or "lol u train skillz?") and tires to act powerful when they really aren't (A personal observation - I usually see these in the lv 50-80 area.) They'll occasionally idolize higher-level players, and call anyone that beats them a noob or a nerd. newb - A new player, simple as that. Since this is subjective, someone's going to disagree with me, but that's just IMO.
  16. Well, yeah. But if you are serious (ie: you can't be a member for longer due to school/money,) then I would recommend raising your fishing and cooking at Catherbury. There's really not much point in doing member skills (like construction, etc,) as you'll lose their benefits after a month. Don't forget to try the members minigames such as Pest Control and Castle Wars (I've heard Stealing Creation is good too, but I haven't tried it yet :(.)
  17. When I quit (and left for a few years, coming back a week ago,) it was the same. I found a better game and just played that instead of RS. When my membership came up for renewal, I thought "meh," and let it slide. So little emotion, considering the amount of time... But Jagex has a long rope, and I'm back.
  18. Back when I played it was Zezima and Nova. I remembered Nova as "the guy who had no life" (based on his interview here,) but Zezima seemed pretty balanced. Shame he's quit.
  19. Grammer noob, don't care about combat level noob and skill noob :P. I'm going to have to throw my generic "+1" onto that. It's the best exposition of their ways I've seen :D.
  20. I made three months :). Anyway, welcome back. RS bores me too...
  21. a million times :wall: Yep. Wayy too oftern, and would make powertraning too easy.
  22. I think its world 99 company that is no-ess-back.
  23. I cant come, sorry, but I wish you the best of luck. Normally, im against in-game relationships, but you do not just look like a normal noob looking for "fr33 st0f pl0x". Best of luck :D.
