Was going to post this. As far as Jagex can tell, they aren't logging in from China- they are logging in from wherever the proxy is. All a China IP ban would do is stop non-tech folk being able to play.

It's not really that often. My guess is that uptime is over 99%, which equates to an hour downtime every 4 days (not including updates). This is pretty good..

I also can't see the satisfaction in this. 480m combat XP will take a year at least grinding away. I know quite a few people have already done this, but I really can't see how this would enhance your quality of life. If this is the only thing left in runescape to 'complete', then maybe find a new game/play real life for a bit.

You might get disheartened with training on controlled. I would do them one at a time personally

Interesting, so when I'm in accurate mode my attack is invisibly 102/99 and so on? I wonder which holds the greatest advantage in the long run- maybe it's a rock paper scissors scenario. All we can do is speculate unless anyone knows the algorithm that calculates the chance of a hit, and the amount of damage. EDIT: I just had someone sneakily enable the shield spot as I wasn't paying complete attention. Is deception the secret?

So I've become interested in maxed box staking. I'm wondering if there is a strategy that actually provides a sustainable source of income in the long term. I'm assuming that each attack style is equal (Accurate, Aggressive or Defensive). Please correct me if I'm wrong, as this is crucial. Because of this, I'm assuming that the chance of winning each fight is 50%. Currently I've been using the martingale system, where you double up your stake for each consecutive loss. I've had reasonable success, which is typical for this system. However, in the long term the chance of losing everything is 100%. High profile stakers must have some other tricks up their sleeve that tip the odds in their favour. What could that be? So is there any betting strategy that works long term?

Impressive.. I'd always assumed staking is always 50:50 if you are both wearing the same equipment. How do you put the odds in your favour?

I'm a registered Apple developer, and I have been running iOS 5 on my iPhone for the last few weeks. Beta 1 was pretty buggy, frequently crashing etc. Beta 2 was released about a week ago and is much more stable. You need a mac to install iOS 5 as you need Xcode and iTunes 10.5 Beta.

I'm fairly sure that the temp bans were in place so that jagex could compare the player's activity prior to getting banned (botting) to after the ban was over and they started playing normally again.

Sorry to go off topic, but: Is that really worth it? How long are your trips and how many kills do you get? I'd really only consider that if you get significantly more than me, which is 2 yaks for 100 kills (no cannon) Prime's mage attack is also very inaccurate against mage def armour/99 def/99 mage

Being a computer science student, I started writing bits of code to help me with parts of RS. This started with web based loggers and other tools, but now I write scripts for a bot client. It's much more rewarding, and there are some scripts that are now truly undetectable (Soul wars). I've known people run these scripts for 16 days straight with no breaks and not get banned, warned or anything. (Yes there was a 16 day period without an update). As far as I can tell Jagex's bot detection system is only activated after successive reports or failing to complete a random event multiple times. Jagex only seem to care when it was directly affecting their business (RWT based bots). The majority of bots nowadays are run by players seeking to gain an advantage over their peers (cheating).

Look out for the runescape client that I'm making. It's legal. Features are data mining related; drop logging, ge logging, barrows drop logger. ETA 2-3 weeks

Hi I have never really done any serious GE merching, and want to start. I need some advice on how to go about it. I'm starting with 80m. Obviously the idea with flipping is to sell items higher than what you bought them for, but I'm wondering what the best type of items to go for are (rising/flat/falling)? Is it preferable to buy at a price where I will get all of my items quickly, then put them back in at a higher price which will sell more slowly? Or the other way round (buy slowly sell quicker), or somewhere in between so that you buy and sell at about the same rate. A few expensive items or many cheaper ones? Any other advice is appreciated too, thanks

Good advice if that works, could be worth having a small stopwatch/timer program open and switch to dark light after 40-50 seconds

How many cballs would you say you used every time prime died, including the other kings and spinos. Probably 50-60. Cannon does hit sometimes on supreme, and rarely on rex. I'd take ice barrage for rex, so you don't have to tank him. Or you could just go in a really low pop world (there weren't any when I was trying it)

I used a cannon solo tribing yesterday, hated it. You run out of cannon balls really quickly, and it only really speeds up prime killing (very fast with karils + 2x cannon hits).

At 99 attack I'd still chose whip over Balmung tbh, although Balmung rips with overloads

They need a lot of reports/evidence against one person before they can ban them. The bots themselves are almost undetectable, but a lot of reports would make the customer support team look more closely at the account. They would look at things like unhumane playing times, or playing for a very long period of time without a break, or breaks that are regular (ie break exactly every 2 hours for 10 minutes).
