Just a what if..

Recommended Posts

What if Jagex prevented people from logging into RS from accounts in China, or known macro countries? Yes, that would ban people from playing in those countries who are legit, but kill a few for the greater good?

Like, if 90% of all logged in accounts from a country were botted, then it would be a candidate for blocking.

There are still plenty of people who bot on their main accounts for skilling or money purposes.

It would stop a lot of the botting at first, but then they'll eventually find a way around it. If they can code sophisticated bots, then they can code a Java client that can go through a proxy.

Not only that, but many of the bots being used are used on people's main accounts. So they aren't just your regular level 3 bald guy at your local yew tree.

People like Sonic wouldn't be able to play. Not fair.

Would be unfair on legit players, and bots would find a way around it. Either by using a proxy or the gold farming business would just move elsewhere. So no.

Jagex would never do this since as they've shown through their ignorance to all the botting that is happening that they care more about money than keeping this game bot free.

Though you can't blame them, only reason they're around is for money.

And it really would be pretty easy for people to get around the proxy anyways.

Bots know more as avarage about computers and such, bots start using proxys, normal players don't understand what's happening, normal players barely play RS any more, bots just continue to play RS.

Yea, that sounds like a great idea!

Nevertheless, there are no Chinese worlds ;).

Brilliant idea OP. You sure know what's best for RS.

50% or RS seems to be botting.

99% of RS says they don't bot (if they ever even reply)

They'd just log in via proxies, which many of them currently do anyway.

I believe UK has one of the more popular bot companies too, at least I read it on a thread in RSOF about Jagex's legal issues.

So let's ban the whole UK?

Gf Jagex lol

Speaking as someone who's currently visiting China, ummm... that's a terrible idea.

It's not like other countries don't have bots
