My_Eggs
Alright, so I'm doing barrows in hopes of making some money to buy better gear for slayer. (I'd really like atleast to be able to afford a fury, zerker ring, and maybe get some cash for a bit higher summoning to.) So my stats are as follows: Attack:90 Strength:93 Defence:83 Ranged:89 Prayer:62 Mage:82 (gonna get 83 next run at barrows) Hitpoints:92 I have a house with an altar and the canifis pub teleport portal. The setup I'm using right now is: So I was wondering, what can I change to make things more efficient and get more chests per trip? (I'm getting 2-3 per trip, and usually run out of food before I run out of the prayer pot). I have about 150k cash and some stuff I could sell to probably put me at around 1 mil to spend on gear. Thanks guys! 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. manitstinks
1) you use prayer on melee brothers? If not, get a better shield 2) Black d hide vambs are better than rune gloves?
My_Eggs
I safespot Dharok, Verac, and Guthan in their crypts, so no prayer is required for them. Then I just take the hits from torag since he rarely hits anyways. I only take a sip of pray pot when I go up against karil. Left over prayer is used on Ahrim, but if it runs out then its ok, cause he doesn't hit a whole lot anyways. Black vambraces give a better ranged atk bonus than rune gloves do. Edit: Its not that I choose to not safespot Torag, its just that he doesn't seem to have a safespot in hi crypt. 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. If you add kebbit [bleep]es to the blk vambs, it adds a nice str bonus \ EDTI: Maybe add cheap barrows top or helm to add to def bonuses, but it sounds like you dont really need the def boost... http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22 99 Necromancy since 11/22/25 Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 33 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 10 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
My_Eggs
Well, just did another two runs, got 3 chests the first one, and 4 on the second. Got Torags Legs on the very last chest. (13th chest today) Lucky 13 I guess lol. Is 3-4 chests per trip pretty good, or do you guys think theres a way for me to do better? 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. Mischlings
Well, just did another two runs, got 3 chests the first one, and 4 on the second. Got Torags Legs on the very last chest. (13th chest today) Lucky 13 I guess lol. Is 3-4 chests per trip pretty good, or do you guys think theres a way for me to do better? You get 3-4 chests per trip with that setup? That's pretty good with that, but I think there are definitely improvements that can be made. Okay, here are my suggestions: Replace Rune Plate with Torag Ditch the crossbow and melee Ahrim -- with your stats, he won't be a problem. Also, the vambraces aren't really needed, since the difference in bonuses between them and the rune gloves is minimal -- they're just something else to lose if you die. Use Ring of Life instead of Warrior Ring. You won't notice the change in stats and it very well could save you quite a bit of money. Bring a LOT less runes per trip -- I bring 100 casts for single chest trips and about 300 if I plan on staying longer in case the chest is slow at giving me more. Use a god cape instead of Legends Bring another prayer potion or two -- makes getting rid of Karil and Ahrim a lot simpler. Those are just a few -- you don't have to do any of those, I just think that they would help. If they don't fit what you want to do, that's okay. The great thing about Barrows is that a lot of different methods all work pretty well. llamster
Get a rune defender. Don't bother with range, just melee Ahrim. Fire wave>slayer dart. Verac's brassy>rune plate. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
Jadinko
THIS IS FOR INCREASING CHESTS PER RUN: bring an obsidian cape for the defence bonus. bring sharks OR pizzas or a conbination of both. i normally bring pizzas and 4 sharks, as i eat after each fight, rather than during *this also saves on food* with your stats you could easily melee all the brothers, so bringing a super set and 2 prayer potions is advisable. i also bring 1 or 2 super energys to make the run inbetweens runs quicker. llamster
^YES! Few people realize the awesomeness of super energies at Barrows. Also you should bring super sets. Didn't notice that you didn't have them. And bring a second or maybe even a third prayer potion, and flash chivalry on Ahrim and Karil. Use a mix of pineapple pizzas and sharks instead of monkfish. Get a rune defender. Don't bother with range, just melee Ahrim. Fire wave>slayer dart. Verac's brassy>rune plate. I'm not so sure on the rune defender. It seems like it kills my magic attack, but I havn't actually used it to see how well I hit with it though... 11 mage attack is nothing. If you want to splash less, take my advice and use a Verac's brassard which only reduces mage attack by 6 compared to rune plate's 30. Wouldn't meleeing the brothers require more prayer than really necessary? I can easily safespot verac, dharok, and guthan in their crypts, so I only really end up taking damage from torag and ahrim since I pray against karil. 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. Jadinko
with my stats (99,93,88) and 70 prayer, i can use my 'natural' prayer on dharoks, karils and verecs and then use minimal food on the others. note that this method uses minimal costing and imo it is the quickest way per chest. Mischlings
If you haven't before, read this: http://truthscape.com/html/ts_TruthScap ... forExp.htm You don't have to follow his methods to the letter (I don't), but the amount of information in this guide is simply amazing. There is a lot of strategy and such discussed in there, a lot of which should help you at some level. Alright, I'm gonna try a trip of using no magic and see how it goes. I'll get back to you guys on the results. And since I'm already back buying gear right now, should I just head to Oo'Glog real quick and jump in the hp/run/prayer pools? 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. llamster
Magic is more efficient than melee according to qeltar and DeviledEgg (aka compfreak), both of whom are experienced barrowers. My_Eggs
Alright, thanks for the help guys, just one more quick question. Killcount... What do you guys feel is the best to go with? I usually get 12 so I get bolt racks and a decent ammount of runes so that I atleast make a small profit even when I don't get a barrows item. 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. llamster
12 is best; get it on the crypt rats and bloodworms. Small profit is an understatement; the majority of your profit will come from the runes and bolt racks. Lately I've been having such terrible luck with chests that I only profit about 10-25k per chest. 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.
