Ice bursting calculations + Dragon Claws

Heyy,

i have 45 odd mill to spend on getting me from 77-88 summoning. 99 Mage has always been a goal for me so i thought why not burst rock lobbies. I could of done these calculations myself but ive completely forgot since i just came back to RS, so i wanted to know a few things.

1) How many thousand bursts will i need to get me enough charms from 77-88 summ, baring in mind i currently have 300 crims and 406 blue charms which i will use on elemental titans ( i dont really have a goal of getting above 88 summ therefore im not saving em up any longer ;) )

2) How much money would all this cost i.e mopney for ppots bursts shards secondarys etc, and if you could, possibly reduce from that cost the money i will get back from selling/exchangeing/alching those pouches (btw... which of the 3 options shuld i do? :S)

3)Before when i played RD i was doing granite lobsters, are they still worth it as i dont know theh price of the secondary item, if it isn't, what should i do till level 85?

That's it for summooning :)

4) Dragon claws: Any useful for training/slaying? Can you train strength with them? Are they just a PvP item? And finally, if i bought them now, and sold them in a month, do you think i would make a loss, will the price fluctuate much?

Thanksss.

Edit: Also forgot, to what mage level would bursting to 88 summ get me?

Dragon claws suck only good in pvp or for specs if you openet has high defence you will likley hit nothing iv been speced in sw before with around 60 defence and it didn't any wer neer ko me so its mainly just luck with them

The dragon claws are mainly for pvp, and can also be used for boss hunting, but it's a bit overkill to buy it as a spec weapon for slayer only. You can't train well with them, just spec. Prices will most likely drop in the next month, but probably not a whole lot(maybe to 22-24m or so).

idk about the summoning q's, maybe check the guides section ;)

There are three sides to every story: There's one side, there's the other, and there's the truth.

1)

From 77 to 85 - 5477 Granite Lobsters

From 85 to 88 - 3026 Swamp Titans

Total of about 8500 Crimsons. Since you'll also be using golds and greens, I'd say about 7500 crimsons.

Apparently, it's about 250 crimsons per 1k bursts. So around 30k bursts.

2)

Kent's guide to summoning estimates about 75m as the cost of 1-99 summoning. I'm a bit too lazy to crunch the cost for you, but I'd guess somewhere in the range of 20-35m. Exchange your pouches, and try to find someone to buy the shards you have left at 88.

3)

Do Granite Lobs til 85, then Swamp Titans.

4)

Don't buy Dragon Claws for slayer. Use a DDS or an SGS for specials (SGS is overkill really, though). AGS is also okay, but again, overkill.

You should definitely barrage lobsters. It's much cheaper, considering how many more charms you get.

And you might wanna check this guide out, if you're insecure of how to barrage, and with what gear.

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Barrage costs MORE per charm, it only gives more xp per hour. Burst is MUCH cheaper per crimsons.

Fairly simple, more of a tip then a guide. I was doing some calcs for 99 summoning, and ran across an interesting question: Which is better, burst or barrage?

So I did a few calcs: (This is a quick-and-simple table here, no fancy formatting or annotated formulas ;) ). The charm XP numbers are for my personal pouches, but they don't affect the burst\barrage; you can ignore the middle section. The bottom part is where the final calcs come out. I used the current GE prices for runes.

This table does not make allowance for increased splashes during barrages or more runs with burst\barrage; both of these don't really affect results much at the 7 lobster spot (which I believe to be the best).

burstorbarragexk5.png

Basically, if you can make over 422k per hour - as any member with 94+ mage and enough cash to consider lobsters should with methods like Avansies\Green Dragons\GWD, your better off barraging for charms.

I can try to explain things if they aren't clear, just post. Again, this is one of my quick, thrown together tables without formatting.

That's interesting, i was always going to barrage when i got 94 mage however after reading the last comment and his wise words im thinking of doing 7 lobs :S

So final question... :D Which spot is really best 9 or 7 =/

The 7 spot is oubviously a disadvantage due to less lobs, however it is quicker to lure lobs, and if you mess up at the 9 spot, you have to do a lot of things to re lure + your wasteing a lot on blood bursts.

So which spot?

EDIT: lol i have missed out on a lottt, jsut read about sacred clay helms, i was wondering would they help at rock lobbies, i mean they provide double xp so id be getting 300kxp per hour o.O however how long does it take to acquire them, and also how quickly do they degrade? thanks.

That first zybez guy is wrong cause his crimson rates when barraging are totally wrong. He says you get 470 crimson charms per 1k barrages opposed to 280 per 1k bursts. It's more like 330 opposed to 270.
