stealing creations point calc

Recommended Posts

One that tells you how many points/tools you need to attain a certain level.

Very simple and more convenient then manually doing it.

20(x/y) for # of points \

(x/y) for # of tools / these are for the proto-tools

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

x = exp left y = how much exp the tool lasts for (since each has a diff. variable)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the ones for the armor/weapon would be z(x/y) 'z' is how many points that specific armor costs.

This may have been suggested but i rarely get on tip.it forums so oh well.

If this is not already in the works i would love to see it would be a great help. I know i have spent a lot of time figuring out how many tools to lvl for me, my wife, and our kids. You could throw in armor too for just a bit more work.

Thanks for reading,

We'd need the raw data for this.

I collected data for the volatile tools (how long they last), but not the morphic/proto tools.

If you have data, post away, it would be welcome.

I have morphic tool data for fletching in my blog (second page?)...link should be below.

If you prefer, I can copy and paste it here (and edit this post to reflect that change).

Sportsguy, from your last post about it on that page, I get this data:

297 Yew shorts

start 697,379

end 737,474

= 40,095

245 yew longs

start 757,522

end 794,269

= 36747

= 76842 xp total

From the previous post, I can't get data easily, because you were stringing in the middle and didn't give stop and start values for each activity change.

At least two more sample sets would be needed to confirm this number - I believe it varies somewhat. Some players think the amount of xp you can get is related to your level - I don't know.

There are at least seven possible tools, so there's a LOT more data needed before a calculator could be generated.

Anyone is welcome to post their information - it's easiest if you use the whole tool in one go and just give the total xp you earned. It's important not to forget and earn xp in that skill if you have to pause for some reason.

I thought I had done a better job of keeping track of the experience (sorry), but I wonder if including the totals helps when subtracting experience from the number of strings used on the unstrung bows...

Totals? You want totals? 115,367 experience for cutting and stringing 570 yew shortbows with a morphic fletching knife, high alchemized for 273,600 gold. Not bad, but not fun.

135 exp for making a yew shortbow w/o the proto-tool, so that would mean 67.5 experience for each step (w/o the tool) and no matter what the cutting was (especially since I know the tool wasn't in my inventory when stringing) the stringing should be constant at that rate, so 570x67.5 =38475 of the experience was thanks to the stringing...76892 experience...which is close to the numbers you got from the other cutting (I would have been more comfortable with my numbers had they matched exactly).

As you mention, I think a larger sample is necessary...not just from the fletching tool, but also the others.

First, How about a tool for collecting the data for the calculator? The process would go like this, enter the skill trained, the start and stop xp, the % of the tool used, and the tool type.

With the start and stop xp the level can be calculated, as Runescape's game guide states: "Although it will also return to its natural form after a certain number of uses (based on your level in the relevant skill, but will last a slightly shorter time than the volatile tool). The morphic tool can be transformed into a new shape as much as you like until it runs out of bonus experience, when it will disintegrate. You can check the percentage of experience remaining by right-clicking on it and selecting 'Count-charges'. "

I think that having a tool place the information in a database would be quicker then extracting it from a forum:

The morphic hammer lasts 50k xp when smithing for 100%, at levels 65-76.

The morphic pickax lasts 15.5k xp for 100%, at levels 76-77.

Given the a few known good data points the data could be scrubbed for inconstant or malicious data.

I know the formula for the time the tool lasts is different for the type of tool used, ie pick vs hammer vs hatchet. I suspect it is different for each skill, a hammer used for construction vs smithing.

I did try use the pickaxe once and it was around 15.5k like 'Nothnxtoyou' mentioned. I remember being utterly shocked that I wasted a morphic tool. :D

In contrast, the hammer is about 50k xp from my smithing experience and the knife is about 75k xp (the same from level 70 to 99 for me if I can remember correctly).

I don't mind confirming fletching and smithing values again to be sure.

I think the amount of experience is the same regardless of level, but it does vary from the tool (i.e. hammer, knife, needle, pickaxe, etc.)

If we could confirm the amount of xp gained from each tool (and perhaps mention what activity was done in confirming it), that may be most of the work for the calculator.

Here's a complete list of various options which you can use the Morphic tools to train. If anyone would like to contribute any data to make it easier to complete a calculator like this, this calculator can be a possibility.

It's best if only one activity is used for the entire tool.

To help, all you need to post is:

  • What you did.
  • Your current level.
  • How much XP you received while using it.

Let's just see what information can be gathered.

Here's the list: [hide]
