Former look of monsters

Featured Replies

We know Jagex needs to compete with other MMOs, like graphical terms and sounds etc.

I was browsing the Runescape wiki a bit, and I came across a picture of the old look of Lesser Demons, good times, good times.

Or the former look of Jad was nice too.

Is there any monster whose former look was better before? Share your thoughts :)

PS. This is not a topic about bringing back the old looks, just a bit of nostalgia

99 Magic; achieved on 4-4-2009.

85 Slayer; achieved on 6-8-2009.

99 Defence; achieved on 14-8-2009.

99 Constitution; achieved on 12-3-2013.

99 Attack; achieved on 12-5-2013.

99 Slayer; achieved on 21-6-2013.

I came, I saw, I ran away.

While seeing pictures of the old style monsters does bring back memories, I don't think any of the graphically updated monsters I've seen so far look worse than their old-school counterpart.

Only fear God,

Know the weapons of the weak,

The weakness of the hard.

I think ogres looked better before. They're supposed to be dumb. The bad graphics made them look better (dumber) =P

I don't like the HD dragons that much...While the textures and shadows on it are good it somehow looks plastic to me D:

Old demons actually looked occult-ish. The new ones just look monstrous.

Other than that, I think most were an improvement. Jad, and all the other TzHaar, actually looks like something that can and will kill you with a smile on its face, rather than a lump with an angry face.

Granted, I don't remember most enemies.

I think that the old demons were A LOT scarier :ohnoes:

Infernal mages used to look better than they do now IMO, they look "less better" now.

But, most the changes are great. I remember when all the giants got changed 'n' I went out to look at them. Was a good day ::'

I really don't like any of the new graphics, oddly enough. The old ones were more charming. The new ones just seem like a bad video game.

Bloodvelds, Hill Giants, Moss Giants, Fire Giants, I could go on.

Crawling Hands look AWFUL now. The fake cuts and blood on them look like a child drew them on with crayon.

That's what I think.

Former look of fire giants, ogres, jogres, IMPS ( :ohnoes: )... Those monsters used to look good. Actually all giants look so AWFUL now. I just hate those changes so much...

Kalphite Queen looked much bigger and scarrier before
