High lvl pouch making

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm lvl 92 summoning and started wondering what would be best to make with my pouches.

I do have a lot of experience with this, I actually just need opinons:

1) Blues

Well, this sounds easy: geyers

But wait: I'm paying 3.8k for a water talisman, while I can get earth talismans for 400 gp each. So I can save 3.2k gp, by the cost of around 90 summoning xp. On top of that, I pay a bit shards too. I worked out I save around 3.6k gp by making moss titans in stead of geysers. The xp difference is 88 xp.

(edit: prices have changed a bit in the mean time, still, its over 3.2k extra gp)

Another option is to gather some obsidian charms and make lava titans.

2) Greens

Another one that sounds easy: unicorns.

But let's take a look again: If I make fruit bats, I save nearly 1k on the second ingredient, and around 100 gp on shards, at the cost of 33xp.

For golds, there is a similar relation between barker toads and terrorbirds. (paying around 400 gp more for 19 extra xp)

Lastly, for crimsons we have wolpertingers and swamp titans, being nearly the same gp/xp, but wolpertingers are double as slow to make at the obelisk, due to the 3 ingredients.

Now my question is: which option did you personally choose, or would you personally choose.

As a side question: I'm nearly 93 summoning and will unlock the abyssal titan. This would be a great fighting familiar (attack xp)for me, since the wolpertinger and geyser both give xp in skills I'm already 99 in. Would you use the expensive, and short timer (only 30 min), abyssal titan, or just stick to the small convenient wolpertinger, even though I'm already 99 magic. I would use it on slayer tasks.

With fruit bats you can take baskets of bananas, then scroll/swap them and repeat.

With a tort full of baskets of bananas and using the orge location its quick exp.

The others I have no idea of.

This might be a very stupid answer but its one that alot of people will give you. Its all going to depend on personal prefrence/ Speed or Money? If you want to save money, then go with the slower options, but if you have a large ammount of money then i see no point in doing it the slow way.

As for the fighting fimiliar. Once again. It depends on personla preference. If i were in your shoes though i would choose the Combat Fimiliar that speeds up the killings. This way you will be able to complete Slayer Tasks faster, make money faster, etc.

thanks for the answer.

I knew I would get answers like this, that's why I would like to hear what you would do in my place.

Also, both familiars speed up the killings at nearly the same speed. One familiar is just a bit more expensive and has a shorter timers, yet gives attack xp (not 99 yet) while the two others are cheaper but give xp in skills I'm already 99 in.

Hmmm, okay so you have a choice. You could either get 99Atk the normal way, without any Fimiliars. From your current level it might take you a while. Or you chould speed up the process by using a fimiliar.

Okay. Lets say you get an avg of 45k exp an hour for attack while training. You need about 6.5mil more exp for 99Atk. Thats about 145 hours of Atk training without any fimiliar. If you use a fimiliar you will only have to train 130 hours (assuming the fimiliar speeds up your exp rate by 5k an hour). So you will be saving 15hours of ATK training, but youre going to use alot more money than usuall getting this. If saving 15hours for a 99 is that worth it for you, then use it.

Like what was stated above i would go which i could do. If i had the cash i would go for the more exp faster way. If i was low on cash i would do the cheaper but still good way. Since you can only make half as many Wolpentingers then making the Swamp Titans would be faster. The difference between Barker Toads and Terrorbirds is minimal so do Toads as they are better exp. this is what i would do with mine atleast. As for the greens its up to you, i personally don't plan on using them, or only use them if i have to.

It seems like you're using whip on controlled, if you were to use an att/str/def gaining familiar you would get one of those sooner. Now if you don't mind that then do so. Some places it depends on the familiar, like the wolpentinger which is small and easier to move around tight places, as to which you use.

Here's what I did...

1) Blues

Moss Titans. It was around 92 that I realized that those O-So-Valuable blue charms that I've been saving all along weren't really all that good for anything. Anything that you'd actually want to use that's made from a blue charm you can buy on the GE cheaper than making it. I made them into Moss Titans and traded the pouches back for shards.

The extra XP from Geysers won't mean anything in the long run. Save your money for shards.

2) Greens

Nothing is really good for Greens. I decided to clean out my inventory of the raw sharks that I'd been accumulating and make mine into Bunyips. I chose Bunyips because I knew that I'd use them, and they were often hard to buy. Unicorns are expensive to make, and easy to buy on the GE if you ever need them. I never even thought of fruit bats.

3) Golds

Once again, gold charms aren't much use when you're at 92 Summoning. I made mine into Terrorbirds because the seconds were so cheap. I've got like 8K of them sitting in my bank now. I use them as disposable BOBs when I need one for a few minutes. Again, the 19xp extra from Barker toads is going to be meaningless to you in the long run.

4) Crimsons

Swamp titans, then Iron titans, then Pack Yaks. Wolpertingers are a pain in the neck. The seconds are hard to buy and they take twice as long to pouch. In the end you'll save something like 100 crims worth of XP, but lose 1-2 hours of pouching time.

If you are considering keeping on going to Iron titans, start buying the platebodies right away. It may have been fixed, but when I did it the platebodies were still considered "armor" and you could only buy 100 of them every 4 hours. I know that the swamp lizards (weapons!) had the same problem, but they got fixed a while back.

A side answer: All of the combat familiars are pretty useless for slayer tasks. Even the Steel titan is only good under really specific circumstances (Black Demons, or KBD for Black Dragon task). Usually it takes so long for them to enter combat that I've already killed whatever I was fighting. I'd rather bring a Bunyip and basically AFK the tasks rather than have to focus on eating and constantly calling the familiar to get it fighting.

If you're quick with the call button you wont run into this problem. Using a combat familiar is better than not using one, especially if you have an Enhanced Excalibur.

Maybe marginally better, but it's been my experience that it isn't worth the effort. I can almost always find a better use for a BOB or a healing familiar.

That's just my style of play, though. I put more value on convenience rather than shaving off a few minutes per task.

edit...

I just noticed that you don't have maxed combat stats. Maybe the combat familiars work better for you when you have a lower combat level. I'll trust your judgement on that one.

Well for tasks that you don't need healing on. Such as prayer tasks, a combat familiar would be of some use. I know that when I do cannonable tasks a fighting familiar, in my case a Fire Titan, helps in killing off some creatures that me or the cannon can't get to. Same thing for a lot of the creatures in the Chaos Tunnels. Dags, Black Demons and others like to pile you and the Familiar helps out in killing these.
