Bugmeat
I'm ranging Black Demons in the Chaos Tunnels for charms mainly but experience, too. For faster kills should I continue to use Iron Knives or use Rune C'bow with Broad Bolts? I currently have 78 range and I'm using Range pots, if it helps/matters. Also, does Ring of wealth really affect charm drop or should I switch to my archer's ring?
Cptbaker08
The c'bow will most likely hit higher, and make kills faster. RoW doesnt affect Charms so archers ring it is. Bugmeat
Alright, thanks a lot. I had read posts before where people had said it affected charms but I was never too sure. :-#
RuneAge
C'bow does hit higher but is a bit slower, knifes can hit fast but not that high, so i'd say there about even, depending on what bolts/knifes you use. Click my signature for my blog!
Kiplin
I'm around the same range level as you are and considering how high a level black demons are I would choose the crossbow. Knives tend to do more damage on monsters with lower defence whereas the rune c'bow and broad bolts will most likely do better against stronger monsters. I ranged cockroach soldiers for a while and tried a few things out. Void + knives simply didn't have enough accuracy and even d'hide with knives seemed slower xp than void + broad bolts. I can't give any figures though. Always use range pots. Using void + broad bolts I hit up to 30, without I only hit 26. It also makes a noticeable difference to my accuracy. :D While I'm here, do you mind if I ask you a few things? I'm after 99 range and summoning eventually so I'm looking for a way of training both together (I'd like to minimize the time I need to spend at waterfiends later). Could you give a rough estimate on charms and xp per hour rates at black demons?
Skeptical
Rune C'bow does more damage, knives hit faster. "Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security." gorgoroth
Rune C'bow does more damage, knives hit faster. What a stupid answer...Everyone knows this. Anyway, i ranged Black Demons for a while and i found that with B;ack Knives they were easy to kill. **Thanks to Boo_Boy666 for my amazing Singnature**[hide=Slaytanicc's Achievments]|99Cooking achieved 24Dec 2008|99Strength achieved 17Feb 2009|99Hit Points achieved 8April 2009||99Defense achieved 29May 2009|99Attack achieved 2August 2009|99Ranged achieved 14August 2009|[/hide][hide=Guides by Slaytanicc]Aviansie Maging + Ranging Guide (Must Read!!)Iron Mining + Banking GuideGreen Dragons GuideAnkou Slaying Guide[/hide]
Yagami
Charms drops are affected by a Ring of Wealth I would like to get the most difficult 99 in the game to accomplish. which is woodcutting. because I had a drunken night in philadelphia and sprayed a fire extinguiser, evacuated a 7 story hotel on the philly stadium, spent the night in jail.. then got on level 2 prob & have to pay 50 a month because I have a job. It's their way of collecting more money out of me.
Zaaps1
You appear to want speed. Well if you only want speed, I'd recommend meleeing. But since you seem to want ranged xp, here's what I say. First, migrate yourself to Taverly. They fixed the charm drop rate so that the two locations are equal. So now if you go to Tav, you can CANNON, which will speed up your task IMMENSELY. If I were you, I'd cannon without giving it a second-thought. Second, stick with the crossbow. Since they have such high hp and decent defense, you need the crossbow more than knives. RoW does not affect the charm drop rate. It only affects the rare item drop rate. There are 2 "wheels" that are spun. One decides what normal drop you get. The second decides IF you get a rare drop, replacing the normal one. RoW only helps on the second wheel. Since charms are not part of either wheel, RoW does not impact charm drops. Go archer ring. ~It's Super Effective! Cptbaker08
Charms drops are affected by a Ring of Wealth I read some where that Jagex themselves said that Charms are not affected by the RoW. I just don't remember where i read it. The CT black demons still have a better charm drop rate, but since the update its not as noticible as before. JoeDaStudd
The reason people will tell you to wear RoW at Black Demons is that they drop rune items which are normally classed as rare items and therefore affected by the powers of the RoW. gorgoroth
The way i see it Charms are bonus item, not rare, not common, BONUS. A RoW does not affect the drop rate of BONUS item, so it will not affect Charm drops (same goes for a Draconic Visage) **Thanks to Boo_Boy666 for my amazing Singnature**[hide=Slaytanicc's Achievments]|99Cooking achieved 24Dec 2008|99Strength achieved 17Feb 2009|99Hit Points achieved 8April 2009||99Defense achieved 29May 2009|99Attack achieved 2August 2009|99Ranged achieved 14August 2009|[/hide][hide=Guides by Slaytanicc]Aviansie Maging + Ranging Guide (Must Read!!)Iron Mining + Banking GuideGreen Dragons GuideAnkou Slaying Guide[/hide]

As I stated above, charms do not belong on either of the wheels spun (common or rare), but on their own wheel completely unaffected by the RoW ~It's Super Effective!
