blade995
Well i set my computer clock every morning(since it's wrong) and at the end of the day it's about 15 mins fast again. I haven't tried anything because I don't know what could be causing it. I have scanned for spyware and viruses and all of that. SPECS AMD Athlon 3200+ Windows XP home 512mb ram I will post a hijackthis log if needed.
Bmw
Hmm...you scanned w/ adaware and or spybot, and still nothing? Have you scanned in safemode? One thing I can quickly suggest off the top of my head is to right click the time, click adjust date/time, click on the "Internet Time" tab, and make sure that the "Sync with internet, server time.windows.com is checked. If that doesn't work, then I'd suggest to post a hijackthis log, and maybe Merc of someone will give it a look. AD
Greatsilverwyrm
Never heard of a virus or anything speeding up the clock. Most likely your internal clock is just buggered somewhere. Do you have the atomic clock synchronization on? If not, try that. If the built-in windows synchronization doesn't work, which it didn't for me for the longest time, there are a slew of freeware and shareware atomic clock synchronizers out there. Just google it. ShakaKhan70
I have been having the same problem, only mine was ahead by 45 minutes at one point, although its back to 15 ahead now. I checked the internet sync and all that stuff, and did all the scans, but nothing has worked.
krunkthemonk
I know that if its slowing down that your cmos battery may be going dead. I've never heard of it speeding up though. krunkthemonk
I have clock sync on. This is getting anoying as hell. I set it about 1:00 today and it's like 17mins fast again. I know that if its slowing down that your cmos battery may be going dead. I've never heard of it speeding up though. I don't exactly know what you eman by this. I think you mean my computer battery? This is a desktop computer. No no no. The CMOS battery helps you store your system info such as your settings and time. They usually last for around 8-10 years but depending how much your computer is used it would decrease its projected life span. How old is your computer and do you use it very frequently? Again the CMOS may not be the problem but this info may be handy in the future. The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard. Greatsilverwyrm
Actually, the battery itself doesn't store any information, it allows minor electronics to remain powered so that your settings can be saved on them.

Whoopsies put the wrong thing in. Anyways that info was from the troubleshooting section in my dell comp manual. I'll fix my post asap. The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard. blade995
My computer is only about 7 months old, so i don't think that batery thing could be the problem. If it is this computer is under warentee still.
krunkthemonk
http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/showpo ... ostcount=3 Sometimes (especially with Dell machines) the discrepancy is outside the range that the time sync will adjust - and you get a large steady error, like 10 minutes in an hour. If that happens Try these steps: -_- Use the link since the exact commands cannot be posted here. Reply back if this doesn't work. The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard. blade995
I don't know what to do with those camands. Taken straight from the page. 1. Start->Run cmd.e3e 2. net stop w32time 3. w32tm.e3e /unregister 4. w32tm.e3e /register 5. net start w32time I put the first one one into the run box. I get a black box with C:\documents and settings\ my name What do i do after the first step?
Chris
Type the rest, followed by an enter after each command. "net" is a command so your pc will use it with the switches. If you don't believe me type "net /?" and press enter. Notoriously Trollish.
blade995
Thanks everybody! I did those steps and i think it worked. If it didn't i'll post back.
