NEW Summmoning Tables feedback!

Recommended Posts

Please post here if you have feedback or corrections for Tip.It's new summoning tables.

Tip.It would especially like to thank Crewbie misplacedme for his work on this helpful new feature.

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

I like the idea and hate it too.

My likes

Its simple, dynamic and works.

My hates

Its going to be harder and take even longer to make cash from pouches.

Few suggestions

Group or order by attack style.

Select or filter to a group ie BoB or healers.

The 2 tables seem to overlap too much. Why have number of shards and seconds in the using a familiar page?

Add Kents max hit to the table.

Add size to the table, this makes a big impact in some locations as smaller ones dance less.

Add exp per gp (shards) with and without seconds.

Nice job, but I think it could do with some work.

Thanks George, the compliment is most appreciated.

I like the idea and hate it too. - lol

My likes

Its simple, dynamic and works. - Thanks

My hates

Its going to be harder and take even longer to make cash from pouches. - Yes, I'm rather afraid Jagex will nerf anything nice that they see in the tables; it's a risk, lol.

Few suggestions

Group or order by attack style. - I recommend ctrl-f. Without having 99 summoning you usually don't have that many choices anyway. Though this IS something we considered, it was hard to decide what we could show in the space allotted.

Select or filter to a group ie BoB or healers. - As above, I like this idea but am not sure it can be done. Again, we are limited by page width and can't show too much information. Here's an items db query for BoB: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?r ... rch=Search . There are only three healers: Void Spinner, Bunyip and Unicorn.

The 2 tables seem to overlap too much. Why have number of shards and seconds in the using a familiar page? - Because there's no point in making big plans to use a talon beast to fight without knowing that you need to fight a nailbeast to get the untradeable charm required to make it. So, it helps with planning a little bit. Yes I realise you can buy them but that was the rationale.

Add Kents max hit to the table. - please direct me to this, I am interested.

Add size to the table, this makes a big impact in some locations as smaller ones dance less. - I do not have this information, certainly it's of interest if you can supply it.

Add exp per shard with and without seconds. - the info without seconds has become rather meaningless, since the second value can have major impact. However, the xp/shard is included in the main Summoning Skill guide http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?p ... tm#pouches . Unfortunately, we cannot provide the xp/net cost calculation with seconds because the GE values are pulled "on the fly" and not available for manipulation. :(

Thanks for all of your thoughtful comments, they are appreciated. It's especially helpful to see your comments on the familiars table, as we weren't sure what a familiar user would most like to see. It sounds like this is something you might use, so we will take a look at your concerns.

[hide=Combat Familiars]While determining this, max hit isn't the only factor. Accuracy is just as big, along with size, duration, ect.

The order of this is NOT from best to worst familiar. This is listing what familiar to use when you can. For example, the Abyssal titan isn't listed in the Combat familiar's section. This is because it is worse than the Wolpertinger, even though it has a higher requirement, thus having 0 reason to use it in combat.

This only goes to level 57, because anything under isn't worth the hassle.

1st: Steel titan (99, 230 Combat)

Max: 24

Size: Large

Notes: Yeah, who didn't expect this? These dudes have the biggest max hit, and they are range based. These have a very nice defence and hp, so they'll last a while. Their special is 4 powerful range hits, but of course they are quite overpriced, currently 500 gp in the Grand exchange. Remember their second ability. They give 15% Constant invisible defence! I don't know why, but this always seems understated...

2nd: Iron titan (95, 220 Combat)

Max: 23

Size: Large

Notes: Basically a lesser version of Steel titans. They also have a large max hit, at 23. They are defence based, so they could be preferred over Steel titans depending on what you killing and the xp you want. They're special is closely related, and also overly priced. Remember their second ability. They give 10% Constant invisible defence!

3rd: Wolpertingers (92, 220 Combat)

Max: 22

Size: Small

Notes: THESE DON'T HIT HIGHER THAN STEEL TITANS. THEY DON'T. The reason why they sometimes are more accurate is because some monsters are weaker to mage then they are to melee or range. (Not the majority, but there are still some). Remember, smaller size means that they will dance less, which makes this preferable in some spots, especially if its small size and magic based attacks come in handy. (Black demons for one)

4th: Geyser (89, 200 Combat)

Max: 21

Size: Large

Notes: This guy is the best combat familiar you have gotten in a while... Yeah, his special owns. However, specials should ony be used in PvP, so this guy would be ideal to use during pvp. This guy shouldn't be used if you have a Wolpertinger unless it's PvP and your using scrolls, or if his huge size doesn't matter, and the monster is weak to range.

Side Note: Rune Minotaurs. They last 150 minutes, and slightly worse than Swamp titans. They are the best defence xp familiar, besides Iron titans.

5th: Swamp titan (85, 152 Combat)

Max: 16

Size:

Notes: Pretty underrated, but they aren't even close to as good as Geyser titans. Rune minotaur could be used if you want the 150 minutes it lasts for.

Side note: I heard that Hydras are better than Spirit dagannoths. Testing is required. (Max hit of 15)

6th: Spirit dagannoth (83, 148 Combat)

Max: 14, with special affect.

Size: Medium

Notes:"Ferocious - chance of attacking again without delay." This means that it can attack twice in a row, just like the Granite maul special attack. Yes, it is better than the Lava titan.

7th: Moss, Fire, Ice titans (79, 139 Combat)

Max: 15

Size: Large

Notes: The 3 starter pokemons! Just kidding, lol. Anyways, each have their uses, with Fire being the best, then Moss, then Ice. Ice is pretty much useless, as Strength xp is considered to be worth more than attack or defence. (Fact, due to the whip). Fire is magic based, and that is a very good thing as most monsters are weak to mage. (Not all, but a good amount) Magic xp is worth more than melee. Their special cures 8 hp and 13 Defence. (Maxed)

8th: Talon beast (77, 135 Combat)

Max: 5, but they hit 3 times.

Size: Large

Notes: They don't hit 1000x faster than normal familiars do. Although they seem like they do. They hit 3 times almost instantly, but there is a delay afterwords. Also, I would like to make note that they're secondary ingredient makes them not worth making. (Totally wrong section, yet I thought I should mention that...)

Side note: Granite lobsters are most likely better. I need to confirm.

9th: Obsidian golem (73, 126 Combat)

Max: 14

Size: Medium

Notes: They have a special that increases your strength. (Not sure how much, but I say Super str is far better so it's unimportant... to a degree).

10th: Karamthuhlu overlord (58, 95 Combat)

Max: 10

Size: Small

Notes: These are pretty useful, and these are extremely behind the next useful fighting familiars. I guess it shows how bad everything is in between, lol. Jagex failed. These are very comparable to the Spirit kyatt.

11th: Spirit kyatt (57, 93 Combat)

Max: 10, 30 with special affect

Size: Medium

Notes: These are the lowest level fighter familiars that you should use. Anything under isn't worth the hassle. These are weaker than the Karamthuhlu overlord, but their first hit is tripled, making its max 30. So for a low hp monster, use these. For monsters with high hp, use the Karamthuhlu.

He only mentions the max hits and size of his recommended ones. But I'm sure he'll have some more figures floating around.

I'm not afraid Jagex will see the table and nerf the shards/pouches I'm afraid that people will be able to see the price difference and buy the previously over looked ones which had a decent profit per trade in.

Grouping well its up to the crew but personally I would remove the shards and seconds from the usage page and add group/category and use that column to sort them by. This is me though and I don't have to act as a group so I can understand the logic.

Correct me if I'm wrong but your using php and cUrl (this might/should just be from the item db to save bandwidth) to extract the pricing which runs based on the pouch name field from the table. Surely you could at the time of echo'ing or printing the values from the table and the curl command simply do;

(GE Second price+(Shards*25))/Exp

Sorry if I'm getting a bit preachy or fussy, but I tend to have strong views as well as like see how things work.

Anyway thanks for replying to me and good work.

Hello

I believe the the new summoning tables are extremely helpful. This would mean most people will just look up how to make the pouches under the new summoning tables instead of having to search for the specific pouch under the Item's database. I also like the idea of how it tells you exactly what you need to make each pouch and how much the second ingredients and spirit shards cost.

It didn't take me too long to load it either.

Good Job

Keep up the good work tip.it

I'd like to congratulate the crew on an outstanding addition to the site! These things must take a lot of manpower, creativity, and QA to get ready for release. Though I'm not a Summoning trainer, I think every one of these additions keeps Tip.It as the best fan site for RuneScape out there!

This is going to save me, and I'm sure many others, tons of time when planning out what to use their charms with.

Great addition to an already amazing site. I can't wait to test it out.
