May 26, 200917 yr The name of the new game from Jagex has long been assumed to be "MechScape". However, there have been rumors of a name change. Do you think Jagex will indeed make the name something else? My personal opinion is yes, and I'll tell you why. Runescape has somewhat of a negative reputation in the gaming world. It's seen as a "kiddish" game because it used to be. Gamers hear the word Runescape and instantly shun it without really knowing much about it. If Jagex were to rename MechScape to something else, they could get rid of this negative reputation, especially as the game is supposed to be geared at older audiences. If they did rename, I doubt it would hurt them much either; I can't see RS players refusing to try MS just because it isn't called MechScape. So, opinions? Personally I don't care what the game is called, and whatever they call it, I will play it - at least to give it a decent try. A lot of fansites will have some work to do if the namechange rumours are true, though. Thankfully we just have to rename one forum. :P You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?

May 26, 200917 yr The negative reputation is definitely something they should try to avoid if they want this game to target older audiences within a year, or they'll going to have to wait patiently for others to catch on to the game and realize it's aimed at the older audience. In reality though they have 8.5 million people paying for subscribers (as told by a recent interview in General Discussion), and they've said a beta will be there for all members. I don't think they need to worry about negative reputations as by word of mouth this game, if really as good as Runescape, but more mature, then it'll spread like wildfire, if it lives up to the hype Jagex has generated on the game. Name in my opinion doesn't really matter all that much as sooner or later it'll be shortened to two letter word or three.

I'm actually surprised that was even made, you wouldn't get the same treatment from most studios, except for vALVE, or DICE. When you consider that it won't be just robots in this game, I'm actually hoping they change the name, as it will negatively effect them in the long run in my opinion tbh.
June 3, 200917 yr Unless it's set in Gielinor(sp?) but thousands of years into the future, I'm not too comfortable with the "Scape". Plus it might start on a bad note due to people who don't like RuneScape. Only fear God,Know the weapons of the weak,The weakness of the hard.
