GeForce 6800 256 PCI Express Video card TV-out SLI

Featured Replies

Alright I just got this type of graphics card for my new VAIO:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5235081650&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D5235081650%26fvi%3D1

Would this particular graphics card require it's own power supply? I'm not sure if this one comes with it's own power cable or not, and would I also need a DVI-I VGA adapter for it also?

I can download the drivers for it from the Nvidia main website, so that's not a problem.

And last, if needed, where could I purchase a power cable for it and a DVI-I VGA adapter for this GeForce 6800 256 PCI Express Video card TV-out SLI? I tried searching google but nothing good came up.

"Twice the performance for less than the Fastest ATI X800 XT Radeon card."

Oh, so this card can render twice as much simultaneously as the x800XT can? How very interesting, especially considering benchmarks claim they are fairly close in performance.

There is also the whole SLI part. Do the 6800 (non GT/Ultra) cards even support it at all?

I would seriously advice against shopping for hardware on Ebay.

To answer your questions: Whether you need an adapter or not depends on your monitor. There is a chance that the card requires extra power, but I see no reason to purchase such a cable until you have the actual card. Mainly because there are two different cables used for that purpose currently.

EDIT: Oh, there was a picture attached. Nevermind the bottom half of my post then.

That card in particular does not require a seperate power source as you can plainly see it on the picture, it also does have an sli thingy... I don't know much about sli though, so I'll shut up now. :)

So would that be the little red-and-white intertwined cable on it then? Or where is it.

Also, Im not interested in it being SLI or not, seeing as how I would hafta shell out $200-300 more bucks for it another 6800 to make it work :P

If your going to want to run any good game (I sense BF2 or HL2) your going to want to get SLI in your system (Running Dual Cards). Itll defiantely cost more [my dual 7800gtx's cost me over 1200 bucks] but it is undescribable how much more performance you get running SLI. Also make sure your motherboard is an SLI Model (Has 2 PCI Express 16x ports).

As for the power supply, your going to want to visit Nvidia's SLI site for assembling the card, SLI or not, because it has powersupply verifications. IF your powersupply is decribed as having as 12V1 and 12V2, @ "x", then you just need to add them together for your PCI Express voltage.

You know what's funny. You're speaking like you're into all this high performance yet you have 4 sticks of memory rather than 2. Having 2 being the slightly faster option. Also don't make recommendations for someone to get the priciest and best video card on the market, and especially make him buy a new motherboard aswell (if he doesn't already have one). Do you really think that a person shopping for videocards on ebay is going to go out and buy two ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã300+ video cards on a whim?

I've got a PCI Express x16 slot and a PCI-E x1 slot, dunno what the difference is between them though

And yeah, this is the only item ive ever bought from ebay. However if I could afford a newer model card, I would definitely buy it from a retail store.

Yeah that's not an SLi enabled board. Still good enough for what most people use a pc for. :)
