I'm having a lot of trouble avoiding the beast's attack. It seems like I just can't get away from him, and at the same time be able to collect the logs. Any tips?

Some times you can get the wood in 2 hacks.

 

So try 2 hacks and run, even though you won't get wood most of the time.

i managed to get the beast stuck, so i easily managed to get the whole load of logs \

chop, when it shoots, move, etc.

 

don't light a beacon until you fill all with logs

Tactic:

 

 

 

1) Run in ONE direction either clockwise or counter-clockwise and DO NOT switch half way thru

 

2) Bring energy pots or visit the slat water spring before you go to keep energy up

 

3) It stops moving when it shoots and then doesn't shoot for a while

 

4) It has to charge its shot before it fires.

 

 

 

 

 

Method:

 

 

 

When it is chargin a shoot run in your set circle direction until it has fired.

 

When it has just fired (eg left the monster but not impacted) as long as you out of range IMMEDIATELY start chopping

 

When you see/hear it start to charge a new shoot run again.

it's hard to get him stuck, but try this: go into the cave, when u see the monster coming, go out, wait a bit and enter again, if you don't see or hear him start chopping. And if ur lucky, he will get stuck, when trying to get u ;)

Right, so I managed to get the beast stuck for chopping, but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent for filling the pyres
