The first one isn't bad at all, some more defined shading and the variation in thickness of the black lines, and maybe some hierarchy (few pixel thick line slightly darker/lighter than base colour). The second one looks rushed to me, if you kept it to the quality of the first one, it'd be much better. Try using the pen tool, if you aren't already.
