This. In my chem and calc classes in high school, we learned all the basic conversions.

 

Considering all scientific measurements uses metric, there would be no need to.

 

eg. SATP and STP are listed in metric

 

Don't forget the added ease of converting to Kelvin (just adding 273 to the Celcius temperature).

It's not as much a matter of prefference as much as metric system being more logical.

 

I'm talking about stuff like mm -> cm -> m conversions compared to in -> ft -> yd
