The plan is as such. Finish Little Big Planet, then Final Fantasy XIII, which I also bought somewhat near release, to get my money's worth.

Also play so many games on PC, either NV, Oblivion, LIMBO or Left 4 Dead.

Did I say I finished Psychonauts? 'Cause I did.

So, Skyward Sword comes out this month. I think Friday-ish, but I'm not sure. It may be later. I really want it. But the 4th book in the Inheritance trilogy came out yesterday too. I want that as well. I can't afford both. I don't know what to get.

Dax, you mentioned Game Development as your study in Uni.

If you do follow through with your studies, who do you plan on working for in the future?

I'm totally going to be the next Notch.

I thiiiiink there's industry work in the last year of uni, and 9 times out of 10, they keep you after it. At least that was what I was told when I sorted it all out. If not. Well. I don't know. Might even have to move overseas or something.

Dax becoming the next Notch? Now that is someone I'd gladly give my money to.

Also, there's a part two to that history work I was doing earlier. My face.

I actually feel like, if I were going to be a game developer, working for a company like Jagex as a quest designer would be really cool. I wanted to do that for the longest time. I just don't feel like I know enough about modern video games to be competitive. :/

I would love to work with either Bungie or Valve.

But that means two things:

1) I'd have to move to Seattle, meaning I'd be closer to that one kid we all know and love

2) I'd have to invest in lods of emone.

The problem I see with working for a company like Bungee or Valve is that, as a programmer, you're not going to be creating any story line or game play, at least not right away. You're going to just be told, "Here's what you're going to make, get to it." Which would be disappointing to me.

I was once like you guys, young and innocence in thinking of studying video game design in college.

Then I kind of realize that would be silly to study video games as a career. I'm not that dedicated to games. It would be awesome, but it's like getting an art degree. Which is pretty much useless.

That's why you don't apply as a programmer.

Programming sucks man. I would never be a programmer. Maybe something with advertising, or graphics design. Anything BUT programming.

Yeah, I'm not actually going to go into video game design, mostly for the reasons I listed. Particularly the lack of genre knowledge. However, I still haven't let go of programming. I dunno, just kind of what I want to do, I'm pretty sure.

Seeing as people play games all around the world and it's become an entertainment necessary to some people.

Well, that's why you would go to school. To learn about it. And it probably doesn't help if you're going to be ignorant about it in the first place. Just saying.

My friend set me up on a blind date on Saturday night to go with him and his girlfriend to the movies... did not want. For [bleep]'s sake. I have no idea who the person is either, I only know her first name. This is going to be awkward.

I mean my ignorance of the genre as a whole. I haven't played a single Halo game, the most recent game I've played was Brawl, or maybe Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. (Discounting minecraft). I don't play a lot of video games, and what I do play is old as [bleep]. It's not that I can't play newer games, and thus learn more about modern gaming. It's that I don't want to.
