The term shall also mean a weapon commonly known as a 'mortar' which fires high explosive from a metallic cylinder and which is commonly used by the armed forces as an antipersonnel weapon or similar weapon used for such purpose. I mean, I've shot a shotgun, and that nearly knocked me on my butt. Not sure what a Mosin-Nagant is, but I'm pretty sure that firing most anything besides a .22 without being prepared for the kick is going to knock you over a bit. He was firing from a rough approximation of a video game, so it wasn't braced and was in an awkward position, and the actual bang and recoil scared the living [cabbage] out of him.
