yeahyeahyeahs
After getting 70 attack, strength and defense, I am planning on becoming a member again. I was wondering, with the 70 skills, what would be the best armor to wear everywhere, giving me a decent defense bonus? All help is appreciated. IzzetGuildmage
It really depends on what you're doing. Sometimes you really need prayer when training and you'd go for as close to maxed prayer bonus as possible. Sometimes you need teleports in which case an amulet of glory or ring of duelling is advised (saves inventory spots!). Void robes are great for any activity in which you're sure you won't die (safe minigames and safespotting or just killing harmless monsters). Barrows armour, saradomin sword and whip are the classic member items that one would use upon reaching 70 in the relevant skills. If you mage or range, I'd recommend void robes. You could also play some Stealing Creation; the equipment rewards give you double xp in combat for a while, and the sc mage robes have stats comparable to mystic. Whenever you do a combat activity, always bring a weapon to spec with - dds is preferred, d mace or longsword is also a possibility. DBA is used by some, but I usually hear people don't like the stat drains. Either way, figure out your favourite outfit at every activity and go with it! yeahyeahyeahs
I have a couple of question concerning armor and weapons. 1- Do I need the barrows weapon for the armor to have it's special ability? 2- What weapon do you recommend? I was thinking a whip or dragon scimitar. 3- I figured that I should just buy full Torags, since it's defense bonus is awesome. Is that a good idea? TomcatLX
With your budget, I say go for whip, glory, and black dhide. You can substitute black dhide for sacred clay. If you plan on doing pvp type minigames and such, use barrows. If you go the black dhide route, Rune crossbows are wonderful to use as well. But to wear black dhide, you have to get your range to 70. Low C
Here is your basic needs for everyday scaping these items are affordable and you can get by with using these until you have the money to upgrade to the best of everything. Melee armour Helm of Neitiznot (requires Freminik Trials and Isles) Fighter Torso (a reward from Barbarian Assault minigame) Dragon plateskirt or Torags platelegs both affordable. Dragon boots or rune boots Amulet of Glory Prayer Armour Procelete Armour very cheap and v good pray boost (requires slug menace quest) Range gear Black Dragonhide or best you can wear. Rune Crossbow and broad bolts or mithril bolts Snakeskin boots Archer helm (requires fremenik trials) Cape wise I would suggest an obby cape Ring wise I would use a ring of life, it can save you alot of money in the long run. Best of luck and have fun in members.
Zaaps1
"Best"? The set up that gives me decent defense and keeps me low in weight follows: Bearhelm, Crystal Shield, Penance Gloves, Boots of Lightness, Spottier Cape, Larupia Top, Black dhide chaps, glory/fury. Melee defenses over 100, range defense around 100, magic defense around 50, weight = 0kg-1kg Nice, no? When you are first exploring the world, bringing that, or something close to it, would be ideal. Few places you visit can tear past that defense quickly enough to be a critical threat, so you're safe. Once you get to know the world better, however, you should prepare yourself beforehand and bring only what you need. If there are no monsters, just bring the cape, gloves, and boots, for example. If it's heavy in combat, you may want to switch the armor around. Replace the larupia top with prossy or barrows, for example, or the bearhelm for a neitiz. ~It's Super Effective! Infi
As people have said before, it'd really depend on your situation. Personally, I'd suggest one set of solid non-degradable armour such as rune platelegs and fighter torso for everyday use and a set of barrow armour platelegs/platechest when the need really arises. I suggest getting a Dharok Platebody (highest defence for the cheapest price last time I checked) and Verac Plateskirt (it has the same bonus as Dharok and Torag and is slightly more expensive, however the prayer bonus is really nifty). 99 Hits, Attack, Strength, Defence, Mage, Summoning, Slayer, Ranged, 96/99 Prayer
hill1193
What I reccomend is: Helm: Neitzinot (Fremmenik Isles) Body: Fighter Torso (Barbarian Assault) Legs: Dragon Legs Boots: Dragon Boots Gloves: Best RFD gloves you can get (RFD obviously) Necklace: Glory or Fury Ring: doesn't really matter Cape: Skill cape or Obby cape Weapon: Whip Offhand: Rune Defender (Warrior's Guild) This is just my reccomendation. None of the items degrade at all and cost no more than 2.5-4m depending on what you choose. [bleep] you all

It's virtually weightless, provides defense about the same as adamant, and gives attack and strength bonuses to match a multi-million piece armor. Sure it's terrible for actual COMBAT, but for general exploring, questing, and wandering, it's great. ~It's Super Effective! It's all stuff I agree with actually. It says that Barrows is superior in combat. That's true, it is. It says that for the attack bonus, Prossy is better. That's true, it is. However, is that what we're addressing here? No, it is not. That is general COMBAT, while we're talking about general GAMEPLAY. Fighter Torso is one of the best things you can have. It's obsolete for direct combat, but in places where you're just exploring or running around a lot, it's much, much better than Barrows, Bandos, or Prossy. You really can't get anything else that weighs less than 1kg that gives that many bonuses. ~It's Super Effective! Zaaps1
But imagine: You're reading a new quest guide: "Plenty of food, lots teleport runes, Ring Of Life, Energy restores (potions or familiar). You may also want to bring a weapon and either armour or prayer robes (and prayer potions) because you will be under constant strong melee attack during almost all of the quest." (Adapted from real quest) What are you going to bring? You need to run A LOT. You need to fight A LOT. You will be under constant ATTACK. Are you going to bring your bulky torags? Your prossy? DRAGONHIDE? What could be the best solution? Fighter torso, of course. Most quests are more or less copies of the above. You need to fight something or will be attacked and you will need to run around a lot. Barrows is too heavy, and praying will cost too much (and it'll be heavier as well, and take up more invent space for the potions). That's only one example. At ZMI, for example, replacing the above setup I gave with the Fighter Torso (instead of Larupia Top) gives you insanely high defenses. I've found that I could pray magic and take no damage when doing my runs. Was I going to bring barrows for that defense? No. 1) It's heavier than my friend's uncle and 2) It's defense is way overkill. It's also terrific at the wilderness agility course. So really, if Duradel is sending you to the Dagannoths again, then yeah the torso is worse. But if someone is making you run the length of the Runescape world while dodging many enemies and having to kill some, or if you must continuously run past hordes of enemies under constant attack, which is better? ~It's Super Effective!
