At my work thieves stole over $500 and a laptop was stolen, they are attempting to locate it, but we've hit a problem.

 

 

 

I have the ip's of the other laptops there, and I'm working on getting the ip of the router thats used at work. Is it possible to find the Local IP of the stolen computer if I'm able to get the routers Ip would It be possible to check all of the Ip's that have connected to it, and find the ip of the stolen computer? The police said if we can provide them with that they have a chance at finding it if the users (who are thought to be between 15-20, and not geniuses).

Did I say the change will be permanent ? No. The end result is what matters, and if you can change the mac address, you can change the mac address.

You can set up a program that will track and control the computers you have left. It will really help if they decide to steal again.

No program will launch after a format, because it's not maked as there.

 

 

 

What a normal format does is just check if the clusters work. The reason it "erases" everything is that it unmarks where things are on the hard drive. That's why there are some programs that can recover things after the hard drive has been formated. The only real way to format and having nothing remaining is a format utility that writes over everything.

 

 

 

Anyway that's what I remember about that.
