July 17, 200916 yr I beat Smoking Kills today at just barely 85 combat - ran to do it as soon as I leveled. My combat stats are all just about equal (attack, strength, defense, range and magic being around level 64 or 65 and prayer at 56) with summoning being a pitiful 26. For those of you who did these two quests within a short time of one another with fairly balanced stats, how would you rate Contact! in terms of difficulty vs. Smoking Kills? I am resisting doing Contact because it seems so difficult based on what other players say about it but I would really like to have access to the bank there for Pyramid Plunder. Definitely not interested in wasting a lot of prayer potions, etc., to attempt a quest I should not bother with until my combat or mage or range level is higher. Thanks in advance for your info and advice!
July 17, 200916 yr It has been a long time ago that i did contact, but I thought contact was a lot more difficult than smoking kills, at combat 100. http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Thanks!
July 17, 200916 yr yeah smoking kills was pretty easy, i did them almost back to back, but i was 105 ish combat. contact, that bug at the end is REALLY annoying. i would not suggest you try it before you get to atleast 75 mage and def. I think I'll do Baby Blacks :P
July 17, 200916 yr You can do it if you manage to find the semi-safe spot where you can attack the scarab only and avoid the other minions. You'll still take damage from the scarab, but praying will help, as will only having to deal with one creature. I think it has something to do with not moving at all or something...I know I found the "safe-spot" for it somewhere on the internet... July 18, 200916 yr Author Thank you all for your suggestions and thoughtful answers. I may give it a go if I find myself suddenly flush with money or an abundance of prayer potions to experiment with. Until then, LOL !, I think I will train to a higher defense level, as suggested. On the other hand, I do like a challenge. 8-)
July 18, 200916 yr I did Contact! at 80 Combat, with 59 Attack, 58 Strength, 57 Defence, 59 HP, 55 Prayer and 74 Magic. The only problem I had was walking through the labyrinth; I fell and was killed instantly. :? The Scarab was surprisingly easy; it took me 20 Earth Waves to take him down, and 10 or so Tuna Potatoes to heal from the Locust Riders and other spawns. Gardening for Victory!

I am thinking a combination of good range/melee defense and good magic offense might be advisable along with a mage potion and maybe a super defense potion. And thank you both for the heads-up on the maze part. :o
July 18, 200916 yr I used full black dhide, archer helm and infinity boots (argh why did i take that there, my inf boots :( ) but i paniced lagged and died. http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. I took a Super Defence, 2 Prayer, and 1 Magic. Gardening for Victory!

July 18, 200916 yr Don't worry about it; I expected it to be really hard (as it's a Master quest), but it was okay. Just make sure you don't fall down the labyrinth; I suggest you take a Seer's Headband (as the light doesn't go out). If you do fall, one-click tele out of there as soon as you can. Gardening for Victory!
July 18, 200916 yr Author Nice idea with the headband although I only have the low level one. I learned my lesson about one-click teleports, or a lack of one, lol. I will never quest without one.
July 18, 200916 yr It'll still stop the damage until you teleport. And lol, I have now learnt my lesson. :P Gardening for Victory!
