RpgGamer
So lately I've been playing Runescape a bit more frequently. Especially now that it's summer. And I've noticed something. Every now and then, the Grand Exchange changes the prices of items in trmendous proportions. I want to know why. Don't believe me? I'm a clay miner, and occasionally I merch it through the GE the way that a day-trader would do in real life. I'm used to seeing clay go for around 100gp. In this past week, the scale decided it should finially take that last viagra pill it found at the hotel it's been staying in. It has had a whopping 45% increase in the past 6 months. And only this week has it really started increasing (see pictures for visual representation). I would like to know how it's decided that items fluctuate so dramatically in Rnuescape (i understand how real stocks work, but not virtual ones). I would also like to know if this has ever happened before with any other items. Discuss. Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. Anyone who likes logic is incapable of tacos. Master_Smither
Two words: Price manipulation That and many other items are a perfect example of price manipulators buying out the supply and causing false demand. They will eventually dump it and make it drop below it's original price. Deltaer
Well that big recent jump in prices is due to merchanting clans manipulating prices to make money.. In the real world, that would be considered illegal.. In Runescape, not yet.. as Jagex hasn't found a way to control it. Moonshadow
So, master smither, has a large group of manipulators manipulated ores and bars across the board? It's not just clay. Take a look at adamant bars/ores, coal, mithril ore (maybe bars), steel bars and more?
RpgGamer
So, master smither, has a large group of manipulators manipulated ores and bars across the board? It's not just clay. Take a look at adamant bars/ores, coal, mithril ore (maybe bars), steel bars and more? You're right. But Addy bars are already crashing. I expect the rest to fall by next week. Our_Moon
It can also be caused by other Items gaining value. Does anyone remember when Granite hopped from 100 GP to 10k?... The Granite 5kg pieces had to be worth ten times more than the 500g pieces, which were then selling for 1k each; so, they made them 10k Each, and everything quickly collapsed!
