I have no idea what speed internet I used to play runescape on, but one thing led to another and I ended up being forced to have dial-up internet.

 

 

 

Now I am going to get faster internet but at the cheapest price offered which is 1.5mbps.

 

My first reaction to being able to get faster internet was "Yay! I can play Runescape again!" But my second thought was "Is that fast enough?"

 

 

 

So here is my question:

 

Does anyone play or at one point played runescape with a 1.5mbps connection and did it lag a lot?

 

 

 

Please do not tell me that I need to get 20mbps or something like that because I just can't. I only want to know how bad the lag is, or if it lags at all when playing on the least populated worlds.

I play on RS and its only 50 kbps, and im using dialup. I use to play on HD and not lag but i can't get it to load. Now if you're getting the satellite internet be warned as you might lagg due to clouds and rain and other things blocking the signal.

I used to play on dial-up just fine, sure it took a while for things to load but I could play normally. Just takes longer for things to load. A 1.5mbps connection is solid enough to run runescape with minimal lagg and bearable loading speeds.

You could ping runescape.com to find out the latency (or lag).

 

 

 

If you are using windows, in cmd type

 

tracert runescape.com

 

press ctrl+c when you start seeing * * *

 

If you are seeing small numbers (ie: 500- 500- 500-), then it should do fine.

I have a 10mbps connection and when I go over my download limit (25GB) (and I do everything month... :P) I go to dial up and I don't lag or anything while playing RS.

You only lag with clouds/rain o.o? With my satellite internet I lag 1-3 seconds on every action and often lose my signal with rain.

 

 

 

OT: As long as the internet you're getting isn't satellite, that speed is fine.

I play on 24.0 kbps and it plays fine on HD too, so you'll be fine....

speedtest is not that accurate, i think it just gets your plan from your isp and gives you a close number, because my computer is a lot slower and it gives the same speeds. As for your internet connection, 1.5 mbps could be close to mine but tbh runescape is a java based game, so internet speed doesn't really affect
