September 23, 200520 yr hi guys, back in may a kid at school hit my laptop with a tennis raquet ( lol  ) and cracked the top middle segment of the screen which had a area of about 2 inch square of dead pixles, today we finnaly got that fixed, at a repair cost of 1000 australian dollars (which the kid didn't pay a cent becase he is [developmentally delayed]ed so his parents say it wasn't his fault) but now every second horizontal row of pixles is white, its just like when you go on runescape classic and press f1 for low detail, half the rows of pixles are gone. its really hard to see anything, i have to zoom in on this page so the letters are about 20 pixles high if i can even read it. what i need to know is, is this a problem with the new screen or the way it is connected, or is it a driver or other software issue? i'm taking it back to the repair shop on monday since it's the holidays now, but if its a software thing then i can fix it faster. i really need help, this is my main computer and i have alot of things i need to do. thank you all for your time and future advice, jscinoz

September 26, 200520 yr 1000 bucks for a new screen? You my friend, got jipped unless that was a 5000 dollar vaio or something. You can get fairly reasonably priced laptops from dell for less than 1000 bucks....not the screen, the whole laptop. As far as the cause of the problem, I'd say hardware. Nothing about your software should've changed really, the tech should've installed the new screen without ever messing with any software.
