My Farming Route - Improvements?

Yesterday I decided to do a huge farming run, as I soon want to be able to plant my own Yew tree (level 60). I started at level 38 with 33,648 XP. This morning after most everything had grown (I am still waiting on a banana tree), I had 45,965 XP (level 42). With the banana tree I will have gained 12.3k XP. I planted Strawberries, Limpwurt, Ranarr, Wildblood, Willow trees, Banana trees, and Dwellberry bushes. This was my route:

Start at the Falador Tree

Explorer Ring to Falador Allotment; destroy ring

Take the boat to Entrana for the hops patch

Run to the Rimmington bush patch

Camelot teleport then run to Catherby Allotments

Run to Catherby Fruit Tree

Take Underground Passage to Taverly Tree

Camelot teleport and run to the McGrubbor hops patch

Combat Bracelet teleport to Ranger Guild and run to Ardougne allotments

Run to South Ardougne bush patch

Teleport to Lumbridge and run to the hops patch

Run to the Lumbridge tree patch

Combat Bracelet teleport to Champions Guild and use bush patch

Run to Varrock tree patch

Take Spirit Tree to Gnome Stronghold, run to tree patch

Run to fruit tree patch north of the Gnome Agility Course

Spirit Tree to Tree Gnome Village, follow Elkoy, run to fruit tree patch

House teleport to Yanille, go to hops patch

Kharyll House portal to Canifis, run to Port Phasmatys allotment

After running this, I harvested (with Magic Secateurs):

55 Strawberries

35 Wildblood Hops

24 Grimy Ranarr

12 Limpwurt Roots

12 Dwellberries

12 Bananas

The dead crops were:

4 Strawberry

1 Banana Tree

1 Ranarr

1 Wildblood

1 Willow Tree

I have been using supercompost and magic secateurs for all of the farming. Is there anything else I can squeeze in to this? Any way to improve it? Different crops for better xp? A different method all together for better xp? Any ways to prevent so many crop deaths (this was about a 28% death rate)? Thanks for looking! :)

Update:

Now I am deciding what to plant around this time. I was thinking:

8 Strawberry

4 Wildblood Hops

5 Willow Trees

4 Curry Trees

4 Dwellberry Bushes

4 Limpwurt

4 Ranarr

Would it be better to do Toadflax? Also, I was planning on going through the allotments continuously as the Limpwurts and herbs grow and replant. Would this be a good idea?

From Champions guild, you can take canoe to Edgeville, then use agility shortcut to The Grand Exchange, and run to the spirit

tree.

Also, I recommend you to unlock fruit tree patch in Lletya, and herb patch on top of Troll stronghold.

If you decide to continue after 60, you will want those.

It kills me to find a dead ranarr these days.

As to the death rate, I find that it goes in cycles. I am level 61 farming and have killed about 70% of the barley patches (a level 3 seed) I have farmed in the last few days. Makes no sense but a similar thing happened with limps recently.

For your ranarrs could you wear an amulet of nature bound to the first one planted? Then you could quickly go check out the others for disease, or even as a bit of a timer for harvesting.

I never thought of that. Good idea, I will do that! Thanks! :)

When using supercompost on your herb patches, the death rate tends to be 1 seed out of 10. It may seem to be higher but if you were to do about 1k seeds you will find that 100 might have died. For snapdragon seeds and herbs it is greatly affected because you need to get at least 6 to break even and if one dies that sets you back, but for toadflax where if you get one herb the seed is paid for and since you get 6-7 average per seed it wouldn't hurt that bad if one died.

Now its nice that you use allotments, bushes, and hops to help get farming exp. But most say that its not really worth it for those. When farming the majority of exp comes from fruit trees, normal trees, and any herbs you planted. Also doing calquats and catci are nice exp and a little money. If you like to continue doing it that way, feel free to. I just thought i liked to let you know that most people find it trivial exp for more work having to go to check the patches.

First of all, in my opinion, hops are a waste of time, as well as bushes that aren't poison ivy/ whiteberries. they take up valuable inv space and time and dont give much exp.

That being said, i personally do my herb and tree runs separately, but since you prefer to do them at once, you should try to lessen up the running distance in between crops. Some things you could do include:

1. instead of running to ardy bush patch from the alloments, wait until you use the spirit tree, and tele to the khazard battlefield and rune southeast, then from there, run to the dock and head to brimheaven fruit tree, and at level 72, keep running south to the calquat tree. From there, you can tele anywhere you want.

2. I really recommend you do the My Arm's Big Adventure's quest for the disease free patch, it's very useful.

3. move your house from yanille to taverly for easier access to the tree patch, since you won't be needing it for the yanille hops patch.

4. Get an ectophial. ::'

Hops are junk. They are a complete waste of time. Bushes, however, are arguable, but can be very nice side-xp at higher levels (esp. @ 70, when Poison Ivies can never die).

Do your tree and herb runes separate. It saves time since you'll be less pressed for space.

Only farm allotments (as in strawberries, etc.) if you AREN'T farming trees. Since you are, you shouldn't be farming allotments, at all.

Here's MY farming route, and I'm pretty sure it's the fastest atm. Of course, you'll need to replace a few things, but that should be fine. I do runs in under 10 minutes, unless I run into unforeseen trouble.

Start: Anywhere, withdraw EVERYTHING needed. I have 2 free invent spots since I supercompost my yews and my yews only. I take everything I need with me and I never need to bank. No familiar either, although if you need one take one. If you need energy pots, take those too.

1) Varrock tele, take care of Varrock tree

2) Lumbridge tele, Lumby tree

3) Falador tele, Fally tree

4) Camelot tele, Catherby fruit tree (doing all of these clears out all the runes first so you save inventory space)

5) Dueling ring to MA, take Spirit Tree to Tree Gnome Village, go to Fruit Tree

6) Dueling Ring to MA, Spirit Tree to Tree Gnome Stronghold, go to tree, then fruit tree

7) Chop down 1 normal tree for regular logs, take balloon to Taverly and go to tree

8) Dueling Ring to MA, Spirit Tree to Brimhaven (I have my Spirit Tree there), go to fruit tree

9) Run to Tai Bwo wannai and go to Calquat

10) Tele crystal to Lleyta and go to fruit tree

11) Finish, although you could Duel ring to Al-K and go to the Cactus there, if you so chose

If you don't have a Spirit Tree planted in Brimhaven, just take an Ardy tele and 30 extra coins in addition to the 1k you take to pay farmers to cut down trees. If you do this, bump that step up to the 4th slot (after Falador patch) and move everything back.

I am certain this is one of the fastest, if not THE fastest, way to get to every tree patch + calquat.

Do your herb and bush runs separate. You really can't afford the extra space and banking costs a lot more time than you would think.

Bush Run:

-Tele to Champs Guild, bush patch

-Slayer Ring to Relleka Slayer Caves, run to Fairy Ring, enter code DJP to South of Ardy, run west to bush

-Slayer Ring to Relleka Slayer Caves, run to Fairy Ring, enter code CIP to Misc., run east to bush

-Tele to Rimmington House, exit house, run west to bush

You may also chose to enter the Fairy Ring code CKS to the Mushroom patch that is literally 4 squares away from the ring.

If you cannot use the Champs Guild tele because you can't recharge them, then enter the Fairy Ring code to Edgeville and run to the Canoe station. Then take a canoe to the Champions Guild.

If you cannot use the Slayer Ring to get to a Fairy Ring, Edgeville teleport (glory) is the next best option.

Herb Run:

-Camelot tele, to catherby allotment

-Trollhiem tele to Troll Stronghold patch

-Ectophial to Phasmayts allotment

-Skills necklace to Ardy allotment

-Lumby ring to Draynor allotment

You can bind an Amulet of NATURE to anything, but you can only bind an amulet of FARMING to an allotment.

Alright so I am going to go for an herb run right now since I just got my ectophial. Since I was advised not to do trees with this run, how should I do the rest of the route?

As I said, do your tree, herb, and bush runs all separate. I listed the fastest ways to do each of those runs in my first post, and any appropriate substitutes.
