    VIDEO GUIDES

Total agreement over here. I took a 2 year break from Runescape and tip.it. When I left we had the old combat system, a reasonably-easy game, and (mostly) written guides or (some) guides that were videos but had a SUMMARY in written form in the post. I come back, EoC (which I'm okay with now that I've spent time figuring it out), Old School (which I play far too much), and a surplus of video guides where the first 2 minutes are 'hi, I'm [insertnamehere], I've been playing RS for [insert#ofyearshere], I decided to help everyone out by making this guide on . I'm not really a professional public speaker, so I'm sorry if the guide's not perfect. [addlargeamountofotherexcuses/disclaimershere] Now the first thing you need is to go to a bank and make sure you have these items...' Nope.
  2. Correction to pretty much every post here: 91% voted yes. But of the remaining 9%, 2 or 3% was people who voted "I don't care either way". Like me. Honestly? These updates, as much as they seem to be outraging most of you lot, are just not worth it. Points: 1. To start with, people adapt. Jagex removes wildy & free trade. People rant, ragequit, and otherwise freak out, but eventually everyone settles down with only the periodical rant about the issues with the GE. If you can adapt to the REMOVAL of free trade, how come you can't adapt to its being reinstated? I can pretty much guarantee that the only rants about free trade before it was removed was if someone got scammed; but let's face it, Jagex DID add the second screen for that exact purpose. And if you don't pay attention, it's really your own fault. So if you're complaining about how Jagex ought not to have implemented these restored aspects because it ups scamming rates, really now? Scamming is just free trade's equivalent of merching, although it is far easier to circumvent. So, wildy and free trade removed. Jagex literally has to filter rants and constructive criticism because of the amount of rage posts. Jagex restores wildy and free trade. Jagex literally has to filter rants and constructive criticism because of the amount of rage posts. Wait, what? Jagex has done what ranters and many others wanted for years, and they get ranted at? 2. This to head off the "RWT, scamming, etc going up" posts. Did you get scammed, might I ask? No? Then why are you arguing this point? So you see a bunch of whiny kids crying because they got scammed. Why defend them, when normally you "mature" people rant about Runescape being a kidsfest? Heck, I'm just barely 14. And I've been playing since I was 10. I've been scammed once or twice, but I know that was because I wasn't paying attention like I should have. RWT never touched and never will touch me directly. Prices go up/down. So? I'll find a way to benefit from it and adapt like I should. Think of it as a stock market; if a computer giant's stocks take a huge plunge but start to inch their way up, you buy them to turn a profit. Take advantage of what you can. 3. All those, "now you have to shout in world 2 for hours to get an offer" posts. So what? I miss the instantaneousness (Is that a word?) of the GE as much as anyone. I loved being able to set my herbs to sell and go off to MTK to get more $$$. But really now? Most of you have, at some point, commented that kids from pre-2007 don't understand. Understand what? I played pre-2007, and there were good points to the whole shouting thing. You get to bargain. You can have fun being a bargain hunter, which personally I find amusing. The free trade update has its ups and downs, just like the GE did. 4. Finally, the "bots will ruin prices" posts. As much as I find bladewing critical of everything, (Sorry, but you must admit you make a LOT of critical posts) I agree here. Fishing and Woodcutting had epic low prices in free trade before. Sure, part of that was botting, (Maybe a very large part) but it was also because people realized, Hey, fish and wc take like 0 effort apart from time spent. Why should we spend so much? I agree it was mostly botting, but that WAS there too. So what? I say that a lot, but it is kind of my whole point. Fishing and Woodcutting go down, you use the opportunity to train cooking and firemaking and fletching. How is that different from what you did with the GE, taking advantage of low prices to train skills cheaply? My points might seem biased towards free trade and wildy, unlike my "I don't care either way" vote, but they're not really. The "I don't care" voting option was there for people to show they could adapt and accept whatever outcome Jagex decided upon. Jagex decided upon reinstating free trade and wildy, so I accept this and go on my way. Oh and if anyone thinks of making a "You were too young when you played before 2007 to know the problems" post, don't. I got scammed. I accepted it. Maybe you should try looking at it from a kid's point of view. I don't mean those whiny 10-year-olds that you lot keep complaining about. I know they exist and I agree with you. But look at this topic, without any details, from the simple view of a 6-year-old. They seem naive, but if you think about it, their view just cuts through all the nonsense and gets right to the point. I did not rant, scam, whine, or cry in RS when I was 10. I can't prove it, of course, but I didn't. So do me the favour of treating me as you would someone of your own age, not as a whiny 10-year-old or a whiny teenager, and reply coherently to my post. Thanks.
  3. Like I said, I mainly wanted advice so I could build my own team taking elements from separate tips. I mostly play balanced, though, because I find it works best. ~Thanks.
  4. Honestly? That is just about the rudest thing I've seen in a while... and yet the most common. I agree with you totally... Some kids are really dumb. I'm 13 and a ten year old called ME old. What does that make you lot, ancient? Just kidding. But this stuff seriously ticks me off for many reasons, not the least of which being it gives younger players a horrible name with older ones. (Not saying the name isn't deserved, but there's always someone who doesn't fall into the stereotype.) Solution: (Practical joke) if someone tells you runescape's only for kids, you say: Compared to me, you're a baby. Therefore, you shouldn't be playing. At all. And you shouldn't be insulting people with more brain cells in their skulls than in your underdeveloped cranium. (Actually, I might just try that out myself. Interesting to see what answer I get. XD)
  5. Thanks all. Atm my setup is 1 champ, 2 scouts, 2 halberdiers, 1 mage, 1 archer, and a foot soldier, (I think, too lazy to check) with battle cry, chastise, vigilance and charge. I find it works pretty well as I have the halberdiers, mage and archer to handle any knights and so on and the scouts to kill other team's rangers. Personally I just like the champ because it's always a good backup if my main pieces get killed, because I play a very offensive strategy.
  6. Thanks for the tip! And yes, I agree barely anyone plays conquest just for the sake of playing it. Finding a match is nearly impossible. But that tip's great, and no worries, I see what you're getting at. Thanks again :)
  7. As implied by the title, I want to play conquest again but I want to try a new, effective setup. I don't want to suicide, which means almost o games, so I want to win the games I play. So, I'd like some advice on troops and commands. I'll look at what others say and mix it up so it fits my style. Any help is appreciated. Thanks all~
  8. It's 250ea. And they should sell almost instantly because they're the most popular planks for construction training. And in their case, supply seems to be dwarfed by demand, because it once took me days to buy some at max ge price.
  9. K thanks everyone. And thanks a ton for that slayer equipment list. I can't wear a lot of the alternatives but that's the point of the question :)
  10. All right, thanks. And killerwatts are ridiculous, I wore the boots and red d'hide and got hit like crazy. I think I'll enjoy the liberty of Burthope for now hehe ^^ Thanks for the flesh crawler tip. Ought to help:)
  11. To start with, combat is not my best area. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to that and most of my stats are through quests and random killing sprees. So, what would be the simplest efficient way to train these stats? As in, an efficient method that dosn't involve going all out to buy equipment and unlock things and so on? Attack (63-70) Strength (64-70) Defense (60-65) For the record, I have 49 slayer, but I find tasks ridiculously hard. I mean, my current task is killerwatts and I managed to kill about 45 before running out of food :/ So slayer advice too please? XD Thanks in advance to anyone who answers ^^ EDIT: I haven't done smoking kills either :D
  12. Personally, I don't remember the days of botting with any distaste. Sure, I was a a noob at the time, but the botting and RWTing didn't affect me personally. Maybe the prices were messed up. Maybe things were messed up in general. But everyone who played then found a way to live through it. If Jagex thinks they can withstand any possible waves of bots and RWTers, then let them be. So, people were buying their skills. Who did that affect? People who care so much about seeing their names on the Hiscores list that they rant about losing precious ranks. Honestly though, no one player can claim to know better than Jagex. Whatever mistakes RS's dear old creator has made, the fact remains that they ARE the people who suffered the most for letting the bots and RWTers out of hand. Credit card companies threatened them, remember? They lost a ton of money paying off the hacked people/companies, remember? I'm not going to be able to convince anyone. Hell, I am pretty bad at convincing myself sometimes. But this isn't one of those times, and if you think my opinion is wrong, go ahead and tell me why. That won't change how I remember RS a couple years ago, though.
  13. The title really says it all. I have lv 67 hunter and want 70 (for the Herblore Habitat thing.) I know that sallys are the fastest way to train hunter, but when I went to try blacks sallys, I found my exp rate to be far below reds. So my question: red or black?
  14. I don't even celebrate Christmas, but my family makes up for it with New Year's for some reason. Anyway, it's holiday season. I'm hoping for an iPod touch 4g, and that's it, I suppose. Anything else will be a surprise. I'm going to give each of my parents a scarf I knitted and as for my brother... well, he'll just have to see. (As in, I have no idea. <_< )
  15. First Article: Shouldn't it be "activities"? Personally I don't care, as they are always going to be minigames for me, but oh well. As pretty much everyone else has said, rather negative. Valid points, but some of them were... well, ridiculous. So, you're calling Nomad's Requiem a badly-designed quest because it forces you to play a game that hardly lasts any time (oh noes!) and is focused around a monster battle? That's been mentioned, but the statement saying that TVSB is bad because it forces you to play conquest has the same problems with it. Second Article: I agree. I've experimented with the name changes (I've gone from Sheep Tails to Guthixial and back), and still I find it annoying. I can barely remember where I met this person or that person, let alone who the heck someone is after 3 name changes. And asking everytime is both slightly insulting and tiring. Third Article; As usual, the fictional is my favourite. Not that the other articles were badly written - I'm always that way unless the fictional fails horribly. Good job to all the writers anyway :)
  16. And, exactly as multiple posts have stated, that doesn't matter. By saying this, you imply that the Times group and Racheya's friends in general are a bunch of people who do their best to remain exclusive, meanwhile forming a defensive circle to discredit those who attempt to criticize anyone of their number. What you also show is that you take bias to mean something else entirely. Each of these supporters of Racheya have proven their arguments with logical thoughs - for example, bashing the author is bad because ___. Note the "because" in there - each person explains their viewpoint; they give reasons for their defense. Just as those who criticize are (mostly) doing. Thus, by doing this, they remove the element of bias. Bias simply means that someone is leaning towards one opinion or other because of some prejudice; however, giving valid reasons for their opiniongives them objectivity - they are not merely defending Racheya because she's their colleague or friend or both, but rather because they have opinions that are backed by logic. Anyway.. this has gone way too far. It's degenerated into insults and so on directed at everyone's writing credentials and skills. (Not that they're not important to show when criticizing someone else's writing skills.)
  17. Okay, seriously. I see your point and everything, but enough with the insults. Saying the author is wrong is one thing, but stating that author lacks logic skills is NOT the best way to show that you are expressing your opinion, however valid, POLITELY and CONSTRUCTIVELY, about the article. Sorry about that, annoyance showing through there. Anyway. Personally, I think that the problem with writing about these sorts of subjects is that while they may be good for discussion, that discussion tends to become rather heated. The subject of effinciency is so controversial because not only do people think different things are efficent, they also have different definitions for efficency. For example, Player A might that effinciency is the fastest possible way, but Player B might think that effiicient methods are those that he/she enjoys, and which therefore are more pleasant to grind out, making it seem to go by faster. This is not the best example, but it's late, and I'm not very verbose at the moment. Fictional was good. Can't wait to see part 3!
  18. Just pointing out that when doing the runecrafting task for the hard part of the Lumbridge diary, the Explorer ring's bonus does not work. I.e. Crafting the runes, if I'd not had the ring, I'd have made 99. If with the ring's ability to make extra runes I make 103, that would not finish the task. Found that out the hard way when I attempted to use the ring's bonus. Perhaps it would help to mention this so no one attempts that :)
  19. I forgot to take a screenie (meh) but the puzzle seemed to be like this: (In the room, there is a npc named divine skinweaver) Random skeletons come out of tunnels, which you have to block. However, the last two tunnels wouldn't block - they would hit a large amount of damage and I'd get a message saying that the portal was fully powered and had shocked me. So, what am I supposed to do?
  20. According to the quest guide, the beginning of the message is "a man came with the king's seal". Afterwards, you click "none of these" until that pops up. I think.
  21. Thank you. Question was about maging bork.
  22. Thanks all. Now I'm glad I got 52 summoning. Oh well, defence training time.
