Shiny
You may of seen my thread a bit down the page, but I believe this warrants a new post anyway. I recently found another site, which did have cheaper prices (i had a look around.) Jason_321 (may of heard of him, may not) helped me put this together. By that, I mean he pretty much told me what to put in. Anyway, will all these parts be compatable with each other? Just want to be doubly doubly sure. ilya
That is ridiculously overpriced for the performance you get. You can build better then that under 1000$! Where do you live? That might be a very bad decision. 2GB RAM, 4850 and AMD procesor and it's over 800$? Two times over 800$???!
Shiny
This is NZD, so it is fine. Bordering on under-priced.
Nadril
What I would personally do: - The PSU seems a bit underpowered for running a 4850. I think it would work, but I would feel a hell of a lot safer if you got a 550 or 600W PSU. - I would go intel instead of AMD, better for gaming around that price range IMO. A good core2duo would be a good choice. (Like E8400 or so?)
OldJoe
Depends on what psu it is. A high quality one and 350w would be enough. I don't know what Cooler Master uses tho. Phenom 2's are good value for it's performance. Very easy to overclock. Phenom 2 or i5 (when it comes), wouldn't buy a C2D today. If you could find an AM3 board for the same price i'd go for it instead (then you have to switch to DDR3 tho). And that harddrive, all the *green* ones i've seen has been 5400rpm and i think that one is too. Get a normal WD caviar instead. Sbrideau
For the hard drive, you should not go green, you're going to lose a bit of performance just because of that. Go for a normal caviar, and take a hard drive that has 32MB cache, much faster than 16MB cache. Also to Nadril, I thought AMD was better for gaming and Intel better for processing, or is that just in quad cores?

Shiny
Would this be a better HDD? http://pconlineshop.co.nz/pcshop/produc ... d3a11c0baa I also changed my case and my PSU - Case PSU
Nadril
Looks better. I would personally buy a 1TB drive just because the price dif between them and a 500GB isn't much. :P Phenom 2's are good value for it's performance. Yeah I don't have too much experience with current AMD processors so I'm a bit biased towards intel.
Jernlov
I have an AMD Athlon X2 7750 and it's more than powerful enough for the games I play (Oblivion, TF2... etc). If you're going to play anything intensive, go Intel - but beware of their heatsinks if you're gonna build it yourself. Nadril
If you play TF2 you should join the steam group Silver. :P And you need to go play on the bar room server with me and jaerk sometime, It's awesome. Also I agree with intel heatsinks, those things are [bleep]ing painful to deal with.
