Though I'm bias against getting burned so hey. DDS is probably still your best bet, could have just had some bad luck with those misses. It helped out, but since i was Praying protect from Melee the def boost probably didn't help that much. But it still is 20 hp you get, and you get it every tie your spec bar restores.
