The_Gabe
Well, everyone pretty much says that the "n-word" is offensive, racist, etc. But is it really? If African Americans say it is racist, and yet they say it themselves to other African Americans, would it really be considered racist? Note: I'm not saying you should use it, or am racist. :P I'm reposting this because last one got off topic and got locked  Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy. K112
It's offensive to say in a derogitary manner, or to someone who you aren't good enough friends with to pass it off. i.e you "grew up in the hood". But generally, topics surrounding black people are a dodgy subject as people, generally white, try to percieve that all black people rob you, have no job, drink coolade and eat watermelon/fried chicken, which isn't fair as it promotes hostility among neighbours. Yes, i'm now probably the whitest person you've met.
PolarBearBlue
For African-Americans who care about themselves it is offensive. But it hard for us to convince the outside world it is when we use it all the time. Most African-Americans you see today are either what magicmanmax said or those who moved up so high on the social ladder they leave others behind, which I don't blame them. It gets to the poing where you want to. A general rule of thumb is not to use it AT ALL. beisde when some people like myself use it, we mean it, not as a joking friend manner but as a hateful way that we associate you with the worse of our kind. Aslo with all the stuff happening today it's best to not being up the word, no matter what race you are because you are likely to seem rasict. It is offensive no matter how you us it but because my people have turned to word inside out to make it not so other people try to us it too, thus we become unfair to them when we get hurt by their "harmless" use of the word but we turn around to our so call "homie" and use it on him. Now that's just being stupid.
