September 14, 200916 yr As always I'm no on this subject. As much as I love sports and enjoy reading and posting on sport topics I'm against splitting up OT more than it is already, at the moment.

I'm sure if people were worried for their health, we'd rather they visited accredited persons in a hospital/surgery. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)RIP Michaelangelopolous

September 14, 200916 yr We have a sport and fitness forum on another RS related forum I use, and while I was sceptical at first (as like in OT, there weren't many topics before the Sports forum was made) it has become quite popular. Surprisingly, the fitness part has inspired quite a few of the other users, and someone even made a small guide on how to work out while playing RS. Geeky, but effective. ;) So yeah, if it can be a little broader than just discussing sports on tv, I'm all for it. Other health questions should be left out of this, though. For medical questions, you need to talk to a doctor, or at least use a website staffed with medically trained staff. You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?

Excercise bike while afk for ep :geek: In all seriousness, I do thinkwe would get enough interest to make it worthwhile, even if there isn't much in OT at the time being. September 16, 200916 yr Author I believe that a sports, health and fitness sub forum would definitely get activity. I know many forums which people use which they ask about general health.. eg: best time to go running.. How do you develop "x" muscles and so on. The reason that there isn't many individual sports topics in the off topic is because they would get swamped. Sure there may only be 500 Manchester United football supporters using these forums, but if they all posted on "The Official ManU Topic" then that topic would be very active indeed... I see no reason why it could not even be given a trial run for say 2-3 weeks and then if it isn't active, delete it. People won't complain as they will know why it's happening. October 6, 200916 yr Right now we should keep OT the way it is, else risk loosing the main OT board. You know, I think that's already been lost. Seems like Mods say no and everyone else says yes; what does that say?The Tip.It staff is one working body. It doesn't look professional, nor presents the staff well, when the staff argue with each other in the public boards/have strikingly different opinions. Majority of the staff will post like a staff member and follow form. However, that doesn't mean they aren't having different opinions in the IRC, or other private contact tools. Also the staff that do post in this forum have usually been around a longer period of time and have grown to the ideals of previous staff. A lot of you wanting a Sports/Health forum need to be realistic. Off-Topic doesn't get 8 new topics every day. It usually takes four or five non-sports/health topics to spawn a sports/health topic, which will probably be locked, or die within the other threads already existing. The ones that remain are either personal or for large events like the Super Bowl. Lesser topics such as fantasy leagues, in-depth analysis of different sports/games/matches/players/teams/rulesets are rarely posted. It is these smaller but far higher quality topics that would keep such a Sports forum alive. However, we largely see only 'main' event related sports topics, regarding to World Cups, or Finals. These types of topics are Off-Topic, not a Sports main topic. Why? Because the general population what's the general knowledge learned from such events to not look stupid in social events. Video Games forum is alive because the individual games are discussed. If Off-Topic only received topics regarding large games like MW2/L4D/Game Avenues like TGS/DC, there would be no need for a VG forum. This is the same with Sports. There are no quality topics that do not pertain to the large overwhelming topics like the Super Bowl. The only way a Sports/Health forum would survive is with such identified topics above being posted daily. However there isn't. When there's topics about individual player stats, individual & smaller league discussions for each game/sport/matches like discussing a college football league, or a regional soccer league or qualifying leagues for the Olympics/professional leagues, or any other lesser known but still quite interesting to the Sports enthusiasts, then that's the time for a Sports forum. Yet as I've said, we only get the major events posted about, not the lesser topics that would be equally satisfying to Sports enthusiasts. This is also what the staff of Tip.It is either missing entirely or not posting about in order to consider the possibility of a Sports forum. Nor has this aspect of why a Sports forum could be successful has ever been posted about in the previous 13 topics I could find in the back pages. Why would a forum be needed when there has never been the consideration or discussion from the users suggesting the very topics/threads that would keep the forum alive? When all the users suggesting the forum only focus on what is currently being posted and not what is possible but is needed to be posted? Let's not go to the argument of "If it is made, they will come", because over the course of the three years I've been looking in here, this argument has been brought up, but there has never been a follow-up from the users to even prove the existence of such a possibility of such topics becoming a reality in OT. Adding in a 'Health' to the name would be misleading. You would need 'Personal Fitness' instead of Health to not confuse the masses anyways. Then again do we want 13 year olds telling people to do 20 push-ups every day to get ripped abs in just two weeks? Or to eat this 'natural' product that has dangerous side-effects? Yea, nice.
