Thorstian
Hello! :) Ok so basically I would like peoples opinions on which would be better for me to do. I am currently level 92 in fishing and in a slight dilemma about whether I should continue fishing monks or go and do sharks? The thing is, I am mainly doing this for the money, and a lot of people keep saying that sharks are better money than monks. Now when compared individually this is true, however what about in the long run? Is this still true even though monks fish quicker than sharks? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance. swampjedi
I'm pretty sure that monks are more money per hour - however, sharks are more money per xp. I've done monks since 80, I think. Definitely the better choice. My Goals and Achievements
Slayer_Jesse
if you plan to use shark fishing gloves, go with sharks. otherwise monks. Thorstian
If only using those gloves would give me better money while fishing sharks  Well I guess I will stick with monks then, unless anyone else has an opinion regarding this? Thanks however swampjedi and linkzelda30, appreciated :) (Signature Work in Progress)
Raisedbyapes
I think it really boils down to some end goals. You will make alot more money from the sharks. But you need to add a value to your time. Could you make up the money difference in another area you like to train. If so then stick with the monks. They really are faster. But little boring sometimes. I find the people there bump on a log. But meh what ever.
Cantristenon
Monkfish: 30-35k xp per hour. You catch them like 270-280 per hour. If price is 480 gp each or so you get around 130k cash per hour. Sharks: around 14k xp per hour. You catch around 100-130 per hour (not sure how much level has an effect on this). Current price being around 1,3k each you get maybe 150k cash per hour. These numbers may be a bit off and prices can change too. But generally they tell truth. Sharks are a bit better cash but only under half of the xp that you get at monks. Decide yourself which is better. Coming from someone who has catched over 100k sharks and 150-200k monks. Edit. 1 important reason why I did fish that many sharks was that I liked the fishing guild teleport of skills necklace and didn't bother using fairy rings to go to Piscatoris. Low C
In my opinion monks. You will get nearly the same gp per hour as you would with sharks, plus you get twice as much xp. The difference in xp far greatly exceeds the money you would get from sharks so the best choice would be monks. I've fished 100's of thousands of monks and fished probably 10-20k sharks lol. Deathmath
Here we go :D Monks are better money at all levels. However if you are stopping at 99 you will make more money with sharks but spend more time. If you are willing to go past 99, then monks are worth it. Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again
aspeeder
I like sharks because I can do a lot of other things at the same time, but if all you're looking for is more money faster than monks are a better choice. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22 99 Necromancy since 11/22/25 Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 33 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 10 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
Blake
At 76 fishing, I did a one-hour test for both. Sharks was 11k xp/hr and 130kgp/hr, monks were 32k xp/hr and 133k gp/hr. But that was at
