Michaael
I just completed my goal of 99 Slayer and want to go for a new 99, so I was wondering how I should go about getting 99 smithing? I'm only 71 right now haha I've got about 270M, I'd prefer not to spend it all though. I'm open to any methods or suggestions Thanks 5,693rd to 99 Slayer on 10/08/2009
Silver_Corner
I just completed my goal of 99 Slayer and want to go for a new 99, so I was wondering how I should go about getting 99 smithing? I'm only 71 right now haha I've got about 270M, I'd prefer not to spend it all though. I'm open to any methods or suggestions Thanks It all depends on how much of a "rush" you are in getting 99. Buying addy bars and making addy arrowtips/platebodies will cost you about 50-60M, give or take a couple million. If you want to go an alternative route, you can get roughly 250 SC hammers. Using the hammers smith will cost you half of the normal cost, so about 20-30M. The nice thing about the hammers is ex/hr getting the hammers is pretty equal to smithing the bars normally. So it all boils down to if you like SC or not. Both methods will take you about the same time, so if you dont mind Stealing Creation I would go that route as it will save you money. If you dont like it, just smack some bars and make the best of it. PS. Either Mith Bolts or Iron Knives until you can make arrowtips. Arrowtips sell for more gp than platebodies, but plates are faster. So its your personal choice on what you want to make. The difference between arrows and plates is around 5M when all is said and done.
RayOxide
Jesus [bleep]ing christ 270m?Holy [bleep]. Anyway, from 71-75 do the blast furnace mith bolts and from there just do Addy arrowtips. If you WANT, when you get the level to make them, do Addy platebodies. And if you dont want to do those you can keep an offer on rune bars if they dont buy and make rune scims/rune platelegs when possible. I looked into this before and these were nice options. These calcs may help you look for yourself.http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Smithing1barhttp://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Smithing2barhttp://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Smithing3bar5http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Ores EDIT to post above:SC Hammers are actually more "efficient" than smithing -> making money -> smithing -> making money on and off etc.Especially if you use clans. I dont need a siggy no moar.

meb
What about gold bars with gauntlets? Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. The difference between arrows and plates is around 5M when all is said and done.I don't think you're right about the figures. First of all its approximately 190-195 hammers. Second of all, the cost with sc hammers is roughly 60m. It's double that without them I strongly suggest you to play as much sc as possible. Preferrably non combat, since its a lot faster than the regular sc (I average about 5 tools per hour)
Michaael
I'm not sure if I should do mithril plates from 71-88 and then addy plates from 88-99? It's all about total cost when all is said and done for me. I will be using SC hammers for the entire way though. If I could get any insight into which materials I might be making sell better on the GE that would be great. Everyones saying that like it costs ~70M, but the initial materials for 88-99 using addy plates is 196M. 5,693rd to 99 Slayer on 10/08/2009
Bladewing
Adamant platebodies are more efficient than arrowtips and knives... let me pull up a post I made a week back or so. Well addy platebodies with SC is basically the most efficient way to go, once you have 88. It's about 340k xp, 1.9m coins, and 5.4 hammers per hour. It takes just over an hour to get get those hammers (you get about 5.3 hammers hourly in skill-only SC). He needs 10.6m xp or so. He'll be looking at about 31 hours of actual smithing, 60m gp costs, and about 32 hours of SC. Another popular method is iron knives, costing 1.62 coins per xp. You can smith about 900 bars hourly, if you smith 1 at a time (as you do with knives), and he'll need 212k iron bars to get to 99. This will take him 235 hours of smithing, 17.1m coins, and the 31 hours of SC. Addy plates: 63 hours, 60m coinsIron knives: 266 hours, 17.1m coins Using addy plates saves you 203 hours at the cost of 42.9m, the equivalent of costing you 211k/hour. That rules knives out! Another option is addy arrowtips. Again, you smith 900 bars hourly, but this time he'll only need 84k bars, which will take him 94.2 hours to smith. Addy tips will cost him 37m. Addy plates: 63 hours, 60m coinsAddy arrowtips: 125 hours, 37m coins Using addy plates saves you 62 hours at the cost of 23m coins, the equivalent of costing you 370k an hour. Addy plates are the best! How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
Michaael
Thank you SO much! Very helpful! So just to double check, the plates sell on the GE when I'm finished, right? :ohnoes: 5,693rd to 99 Slayer on 10/08/2009
Bladewing
Hmm, I'd assume so: since they're one of the cheapest items to alch and are F2P, they should sell quickly at mid. I personally alch them since they're cheap, I have them anyway, it's an excuse to gather nightshade, and I'm only 94 magic  . Since my mith plates sold, and they cost more to alch, these should for sure  How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
