lordofmonkeys
I just thought it could be useful if you would add an option for penguin points, or other D&D such as the shooting star to the skill calculators

pokemama
I'm going to make an exhaustive reply here. It's not personal, it's just to let you (and others who have asked) know that the crew thoughtfully considers calculators for new activities - and then reconsiders them over and over again, lol. Distractions addressed here are the ones Jagex lists on their website: penguins, shooting star, circus, evil tree, and phoenix. PENGUINS Obviously we couldn't try to predict which penguins are worth 2 or 1, nor the polar bear. The calculator could allow the player to enter the points they will be trading, and their RSN. Then we could pull their high scores skill stats, and show the xp (or gp) that they would get from turning in all of their points. That is: * 6500 Coins per Penguin Point or * Experience in any skill The amount of experience per Penguin Point is equal to the level of that skill multiplied by 25. Therefore, someone with level 1 Agility would get 25 experience per point, while someone with level 99 Summoning would get 2475 experience per point. The equations, which are quite simple, would be: xp = PenguinPoints X SkillLevel X 25 or gp = PenguinPoints X 6500 We CAN put the above two equations in a calculator. The sole benefit would be to see xp for EACH skill rather than calculating them one at a time for yourself. Please post below if you think this would be useful. ************************************************************************** SHOOTING STAR Shooting Star is a lot more complicated: Star Mining Size Level XP Per Stardust* 9 90 210 8 80 145 7 70 114 6 60 71 5 50 47 4 40 32 3 30 29 2 20 25 1 10 14 *If you are the first one to find a crashed star, you will be rewarded with extra Mining experience (Level x 75). I don't see a way to know how much you got at each level, unless you are meticulously keeping track. It would be far easier to just record your start and stop xp. Shooting star rewards are even weirder, we only have data for exchanging the full 200 stardust: * Up to* 50,002 coins * Up to 20 Gold ore (Noted) * Up to 152 Cosmic runes * Up to 52 Astral runes * Having the ability to mine two ores at once for up to 15 minutes** *These are the rewards for getting the full 200 Stardust. If you get less than 200, you may find that your rewards will be somewhat less than listed.Working out a formula for the rewards listed above ... well, it would be nice if Jagex publishes one. Right now we have a hard time just getting herblore boost data, and that's much simpler than this, lol. I just don't see a way to do stars reliably nor helpfully. ************************************************************************** CIRCUS From extensive experimentation, done by a wonderful TIF user over nearly a YEAR, the conclusion is that Jagex has made the XP rewards too convoluted to even consider doing any type of calculator. Mattie9999's AOW Ultimate Circus Points Guide explains that if you want experience, it has been established that doing 1 of every level trick gets you the most exp. Mattie and friends spent a *year* collecting data, primarily for emotes. Another group spent time collecting xp data for each trick at different skill levels. They found that xp per trick level is the same for everyone ... UNTIL you get up to your skill level (every 10 levels). When you do tricks above your level, the xp is reduced to the amount for 4 levels below your level. Here are some images showing the data, at various skill levels: Additionally, mattie9999's AOW Ultimate Circus Points Guide explains that additional xp can be gained from doing "combo" tricks and emotes ... The variations go on and on. Unless Jagex publishes a formula, a calculator for circus is simply out of the question. Sorry. ************************************************************************** EVIL TREE For the evil tree, the only thing you *might* be sure of (assuming you get there in time and have enough kindling) is setting eight fires. The rest - unpredictable. Tree Farm XP WC XP WC XP FM XP (sapling)(roots)(tree) (fires) Regular 20 3 15.1 200 Oak 45 6.5 32.4 300 Willow 66 9.1 45.7 450 Maple 121 11 56 675 Yew 172.5 13 64.4 1012 Magic 311 14.1 71 1517.5 Elder 687 15.5 85 2,000 ************************************************************************** PHOENIX The Phoenix is listed as distraction, but it's really more of a "daily": * 1000 Crafting * 7500 Firemaking * 3000 Fletching * 500 Slayer Pretty fixed - no need for calculator that I can see. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*. Speedyshel
As Pokemama mentioned above, most of these "training methods" either aren't consistent enough (Evil Tree) or don't need a calculator (Phoenix Lair). However, as per request, we have introduced a Penguin Points Calculator to calculate for the user the amount of coins received or exp gained in each of the skills. Thanks for the suggestions! We love user's input like this! I'm going to go ahead and lock this topic, but feel free to PM a crewbie or create a new topic if you need to. ;) - Speedyshel Website Updates and Corrections *..It is better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not..*
