Just like the sub-title says.. is gold a reasonable way of getting 99 smithing? (With Guants of course)

 

I will have 166k gold after finishing off mining and need 215k... the bars get me to 96 (8k more bars needed for 97)

 

I see no point in selling the gold ores due to the market being flooded by mass amounts of gold ore... I will probably sell the bars and buy more ores to finish off 99.

 

I just did not know if the exp was slow coming like cannonballs or a reasonably good method for 99. I remember in the past (quite some time ago) people would suggest gold bars as a way of getting 99 smithing.

With the gold gauntlets smithing gold bars becomes more bearable and a viable option for training smithing. Just keep in mind that this method takes the longest since you will be smelting 1 ore/bar at a time as compared to smithing a platebody that uses 5 bars at a time. If you did the varrock diary, then you have a chance of smelting 2 ores/bars at once.

Sell the ore and use another method. Thats a lot of ore so will take ages to smith so its not going to be quick at all.

Having said that you can semi afk it so its pretty nice exp for minimal work.

Go for it, if its too slow sell the ores/bars and try something else

im assume ur mining in the gold deposit thingy, if so maybe try weilding the gold smith gaunts whilst mining then

each ore u get quickly superheat the ore and re click on the rock, if you do this fast enough you dont miss a phase

of mining/smelting. saying this you would also have to pay for the nature runes but then again your getting your

gold for free, im not sure this is the best way todo it but atleast ur getting mining and smithing exp the same time :thumbup:

Is over 1k bars an hour feasible? (no varrock armor)

My friend stated 1,2k is about max amount per hour with Varrock armour if you are paying full attention, he was getting around 1,1k per hour without full attention. These equal to 62-67k xp per hour. No idea how much it's reduced if you are not wearing armour.

 

I'm going to smelt my own gold. It's one of the best methods if you are not willing to pay much for your xp (and don't like stealing creation).
