Building a Defence Pure, need several questions answered!

Featured Replies

Alright well, I've been working on my F2P Defence Pure for about one and a half weeks now.

It's currently sitting at 31 Defence, at Combat level 14 which isn't bad.

I've got a set of full Adamant [G] equipped at the moment, along with an Iron Dagger.

I've also got a set of Rune [G] with a Chainbody in the bank once I reach 40 Defence.

Right now, I'm training on Cows, which does the job nicely, but I was wondering:

Are there any other monsters which have a decent amount of HP, while at the same time don't hit often at a 31 Defence?

And, are there any other decent F2P weapons I can try instead of the Iron Dagger?

I have Silverlight sitting in the bank, I also can obtain the Blurite Sword if appropriate.

Cheers,

Blaire.

Weak monsters in the stronghold maybe? Low level minotaurs might work. Or just go old school with goblins in Lumbridge. They're packed together, so it'll be easy.

The blurite sword is your best choice. It has almost the same stats as silverlight, but has 2 str and 1 mage defence less. However, it's main selling point is that it's 1 tick faster.

It's like the age old debate between the scimmy and longsword, only in this case the blurite sword is just clearly better

Well which is more worth it?

Speed (Dagger) or Strength+ (Blurite Sword)?

Which would provide more EXP per hour?

See that would be a valid consideration if the blurite sword didn't have the exact same speed as an iron dagger

Yeah, even use a scimitar over a dagger, since they're the same speed.

When I did the same thing a while back, I used silverlight at goblins. I tried cows, but since their defense is higher I found that I hit them a lot less.

The stretch between 30 and 40 is the worst. Good luck!

The only way to know for sure is train an hour with the iron dagger, log your results, then train an hour with the silver light and compare.

Absolutely.

Well I'm actually 38 Defence now, after training pretty much all of yesterday. Was using an Iron Dagger too.

Personally I find that Scimitars do have that small .5 second delay in where your character lifts the sword, to then actually making contact with the monster; whereas the Dagger lunges almost instantly.

Silverlight is sort of in the same boat, and I've yet to test the Blurite Sword, so I might get on to getting that.

As for training, why don't you try monks? One will last you until 99 Defense

Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! It's been fun.

As far as I know, they updated Monks so that they would stop healing themselves during combat.

So technically, now they're quite useless in terms of Pures.

Thanks xD

I had a quick read through, he's not training much differently to me. Although once I reach 40 Defence; which is one level, I'll grab that set of Rune and head down into the stronghold.

EDIT: I've decided against that actually, thought I might take a break from combat with Woodcutting. It seems to be shaping up nicely, once I hit 60, some steady income should be available from Yews. ^^
