Alright, I give up. I need some help

Recently I have downloaded Firefox 3.6 beta 5. But I did not uninstall Firefox 3.5 when I did. Now it will not load past setting saved from sites. Like I have to type in my user name and password every time I come to Tip's forums. This only happens when I restart Firefox. If I just leave the site, then come back I'm logged in like I should be.

Well so today I decided that I'm sick of having to go trough all of those redundant log ins, "first time visiting page", and certain page settings. So, I deleted all my cookies. That didn't work. I checked to make sure that all privacy settings were off. They were never on in the first place, but I still checked, and they were off. I checked every last browser setting. Nothing.

So I figured that 3.6 beta could be a conflicting with 3.5. So I uninstalled 3.5. I lost all of my book marks (:(). All my plugins and all of my form history. And still nothing! I have just lost a very large amount useful things, and gained nothing. :( *kicks self for not making backups*

All I can think of is that it's a problem with the registry, but I don't know how to resolve that if it is.

tl;dr: Firefox seems to be having trouble saving cookies after I close it.

Way above me sorry =/

Why reply then?

OT: I think my Firefox is having the same problem, but it doesn't really affect me since I never actually close Firefox. But yeah, I think it's an issue with the Beta, it's still a Beta after all.

I replied to show I care...

Simply, It is a Beta so do not stress^^ But yes backups are the way forward (How odd considering they are backwards)

Can you not go into the settings and make sure the homepage is correct? (Not insulting your intelligence, but some times you dismiess the quick fix.)

Firefox 3.5 has a major bug like this. It deletes your cookies on startup or something. I had this for 2 months or so before I finally got fed up with it. My solution: uninstall firefox, remove the firefox program files folder, remove the firefox application data folder, remove the firefox application data folder from "all users", delete everything in the registry under "HKCU\Software\Mozilla" and "HKLM\Software\Mozilla" (can't remember if that was mozilla or firefox for the last keys). Then, I restarted my computer, downloaded firefox via IE, and everything worked how it should. The only problem was that all of my settings and add-ons were gone, so I had to reinstall them.

Go to Tools -> Options and take a look at your privacy settings.

Maybe they're set to something other than Firefox will: "Remember History"?

If that doesn't work then try the profile manager, launch Firefox like this:

firefox[Caution: Executable File] -ProfileManager

Delete all the current profiles, make a new one and start Firefox using it, see if that helps.

Okay, I have tried everyone suggestions. None of them worked. So it has to be a bug in the beta. I guess I'll send a report to Mozzila.

Thanks for the help!

There is still a possibility that your bookmarks etc. are still there, check in C:\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla if you're on Vista/Win7. Google for "show hidden files vista" if you can't get to it.

If you really wanted to try the beta, you should have installed it over your current Firefox installation, though it is not recommended as you could lose your data, but you lost it anyway it seems... During install, click Custom, then when it shows the install directory, make it sure it is just "Mozilla Firefox" NOT "Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Beta 5".

Also, you might want to consider using the Mozilla Weave addon. Easy way to back up and sync Firefox profiles including favourites, history, passwrods, etc between computers.
