im thinking of recording my pking as its been goin pretty good, anyone know the best way to record it? i ideally dont want any lagg and still to have decent quality, any1 know what would fill this criteria?

I record all of my videos with Fraps. It's by far the best recording program there is.

It all depends on what your computer can handle. If you want a downright amazing program, use Camtasia. If you want something that's moderate, however still pretty darn good use Frapps. Then there is Hypercam if you're looking for bad quality ha.

well i have a 2000 pound laptop ( albeit it was 2 yrs ago ) but camtasia manages to lagg me, ill try fraps tho thanks

Fraps won't record Standard Detail. You have to play in High Detail.

RAW, pking in high detail is pretty lame tbh, any other good recorders?

Virtual Dub, it takes a few minutes to setup just right, but allows you tweak the hell out of the settings.

Once you have your file use FormatFactory to compress it if your after adding it to youtube.

CamStudio is free and it's what I use to record my screen, no lag. Just remember to install the lossless codec or quality will be pants.

I use camtasia studio but remember to save as .avi.

Also if you want to lagg reduce the recording frame rate =)

If you want to remove the 30 day trial for camtasia then you need to pay. What is the point in needlessly pirating software when there is free open source alternatives. Odd.

few questions on camstudio, how to u make it so u dont have to click when u have a fixed region everytime, what are the keybinds for record and pause and how do you change them?

Perhaps ring up the support line, just let them know your licence number or invoice number from when you paid for it and they will help. *rolls eyes*

Chances are people won't help you if you admit to some shady things. :thumbdown:

 

However, CamStudio gets my approval :thumbup:

If you got it from a shady site then your making a lot of risky decisions.

There's a chance its got a virus added in now as well as any keygens downloading a virus for you.

 

If your going to use a program either make sure its free or pay for it.

 

I'll do a few tests with VirtuaDub and see if I can create some settings for RS HD.

Ok I've found pretty much the best settings for virtuadub.

Set to capture mode (File -> Capture AVI)

Video->Set custom video format

---> Your screen resolution

 

Video ->Cropping

Crop to RS window size

 

Capture -> Hide display on capture

 

The video file it outputs will be pretty damn large as its about as good a quality as you could ever need.

Now open format factory.

 

All to x->drop the file in the window (pick your favourite video format)

Press start and wait.

 

 

Sure its got one extra step (the conversion), but it allows you to tweak the quality as much as you want.

This works with any mode of RS as far as I'm aware, I wouldn't use it for full screen as I tried that and it caused some lag.

You can compress the video using virtuadub, but I prefer to have a large high quality video to work with as opposed to having to re-record if I want higher quality.

ze trial didnt work u anti pirate nazi!

 

dled from camtasia and used a cd key from the web, and i tried with free trial after but the record screen thing load then instantly comes up with the report error box, any1 know how to fix? and i cant play rs on hd i hate it :/ any way theres something tht will work for standard detail?

I'm betting you didn't try it before you used the key now did you?

thanks for taking the time to do that for me, i appriciate it, and i did actually :P it didnt work and i was like hmm ill try full verson and both had same problem, and its pretty lol to suggest a simple cd key could change the program, especially just copy and pasted in to a form lmao

Under Device is it set to 0 screen capture?

If it is you'll need to find out your resolution.

Right click your desktop -> properties -> Settings.

Make sure your typing in the same values

k ive set it up but its making me lagg hardcore ( any way to reduce/stop this?) and when ive got the cam thing open it displays like a million windows of the same thing in a weird pattern thing( quite trip out actually )

Did you do this Capture -> Hide display on capture?

You have to make sure you crop the screen, Video ->Cropping as it massively reduces the lag. Otherwise it records every little bit of the screen.

I'll test the instructions I posted on an older PC and see if I missed something.

 

PS. If anyone wants I can make a few screenshots and knock up a quick mini guide for this
