Recent Digital Painting

I've been posting most of my work in my Art Blog lately but I thought I'd do my part to breathe some life into The Gallery and show you guys what I have been up to :XD: I haven't been doing much photography lately, unfortunately. Lack of inspiration, yada yada. But also because I've gotten back into the swing of digital painting, which I enjoy much more. I like creating something new! So yeah, here's some of my recent work. Some of it still isn't finished D:

 

Right now my main project is creating a leather-bound book for my mom's birthday. I'm going to carve designs/text into the leather, dye it, then hand-bind a book from scratch and put the leather on as the cover. If it looks alright by the time I'm done, I'll post some pictures :XD:

Queen of Hearts - Unfinished

 

I never got around to finishing this.. maybe I will eventually. If so, I'll probably redo the queen all together, or at least the face. I'm not very happy with it. The floor and wall pattern are textures from cgtextures.com.

This, like most of my above drawings actually, is only 25% zoom but I can't be bothered to post details. The war standard is still in its "sketch phase" and I never got around to finishing that or the Scorpion King's claw thing. I was going to add like a scaly texture to it.

The Avatar one just blows my mind, its amazing! I really like the Muse one also.

Nice work. I think the biggest thing you need to work on right now are faces, they seem to be either too long (like the queen) or too fat (like "follow your heart").

 

 

It seems like some of your unfinished ones show you getting better at that though, the scorpion king looks to be really promising. Great job on the Avatar one too, good colors.

I agree with nadril, though the AVATAR ONE IS [bleep]ING SPLENDID. The colours are really good.

I really like the scorpion king one. I'm not much for the whole Avatar thing (still haven't seen the movie) but it is very well done (I can't say that I like it because for some reason I don't really but it is probably the best of them.).

 

I saw the wips of the Queen painting and agree with the above that her face is a bit odd; to me it's also too squareish.

 

I like Follow Your Heart, if you look at it for a bit, I like the cartoony faces, the roundness makes sense.

 

Methinks if more of us posted random art assignments (most of which are probably rather good) we could get more responses and activity. Plus there has to be a bunch of us taking art classes atm.

Anyway thanks you guys :) Human anatomy in general is really something that I'm trying to work on, and given that the Avatar piece (although not TOTALLY human, if you know what I mean :P) is my most recent work, I think I'm doing alright! Thanks for all the comments!
