February 1, 201016 yr Sorry for a help thread being my first post - I'm not supposed to be on at the moment....Introductions will have to wait until later >_< Anyway, I'm racing a friend at the moment. The challenge is that I'll complete WGS before they obtain 14m fletch exp. The trouble is, I'm a little limited for time. Due to some intense study being heaped on right at the start of the year, I can't play on Weekdays. Only on weekends. This means that i'll be spending most of my time training to get the minimum reqs and doing the quests. Unfortunately, the minimum Herblore/Farming levels for the quest are 63/62 (With temporary boosts). Usually, i'd farm my own herbs. However, I worked out that in a single day i'd only be able to obtain ~200 herbs, which means that it would take 8 weeks or more to obtain the number of herbs to get to 63 herblore. That means i'll either have to kill stuff with herb drops or buy herbs. However, there's another problem. I've got around 5-6m to work with. I don't have any time for making money (As it's a race), and unless there's a method I don't know about, getting to 63 herblore from 50 will cost around 7-9m. I'm 54 farming at the moment, and i'd also appreciate some help with that (However, it will eventually come down to spamming farming runs every available moment >_<) Apart from these 2 requirements, I have no other trouble. (Need a few theiving/agility levels for the Mourning series pre-req's, but they're doable.) I can basically play all I want on weekends, but can't touch the game on weekdays, if you were looking for a timeframe. Thank you all for your help - i'll try and answer any additional questions as they arise Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff.
February 1, 201016 yr Farming is easy. Plant herbs and flowers (marigolds or limpwurts), use the profits to buy fruit trees and normal trees.Herblore, use the herbs from farming as well as MTK herbs (you get a lot from there) then kill herb droppers while you wait.Sell any you can't use and it shouldn't take too long to level. Remember you can stew/pot to the requirements. February 1, 201016 yr Author I haven't done Royal Trouble (Yes, the shame) so MTK isn't an option for me yet >_< I'm counting the highest temporary boosts I can use. Stews are so random, I hate them >_< Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff.
February 1, 201016 yr Penguin points, remember to do them, thats about 25k farming exp for a week. I personally planted curry trees because of the cost and then played vinesweeper. [Guild Wars 2-In game screenshot, the MMORPG you are waiting for. Click for thread.
February 1, 201016 yr I usually plant trees when I'm farming, and the profits for, say, Ranarrs, really help pay for it all. As for herblore, I'm thinking you'll have to make some money for it, but if it helps you can look at Grimy's Spreadsheets: Click. That might help you find a relatively cheap method. And, as mentioned, definitely don't forget to use penguin points. [hide][/hide]
February 1, 201016 yr Author Thank you all for your advice so far. All I can say is...gotta love an iPhone. Lol. I will look into the penguin points, they're not something I've even considered yet... My best bet might be selling my gear (keeping whip for the quest, ect) and then making money again afterwards. For farming, I'll have to nolife chain farm on the weekends. I might train agility or theiving in between runs. Hopefully, I'll have enough to gain the levels without having to make more cash. From what I hear, farming with trees is dead fast but also dead expensive. One last thing - I haven't found a single guide yet that covers when to use your temporary boosts in the quest. I know you need to pot up at the start to talk to Radimus, but when do you have to pot up during the quest? (For example, when do you need to use your theiving, farming, herblore, ect...) IIRC, you only need to pot to talk to Radimus. I believe I kept the boosts in my inventory throughout the whole quest and never had to use them after starting it. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~
February 1, 201016 yr I boosted farming, herblore, and magic to start the quest and then never had to boost them again. If you've done Throne of Miscellania, you can still use MTK to gather herbs. Royal Trouble isn't required; it just helps to make more money. You should definitely look into penguin points. In RSOF under 'Distractions and Diversions' you can find a thread put up by Team Penguin every week with all the penguins' locations. The thread will be titled 'penguin locations v_' where the _ is the number of weeks it's been since the penguin spies were released. Another option for herblore that hasn't been mentioned yet is cleaning herbs. If you can stand the repetitive clicking it's decent exp and typically breaks even (prices can vary, of course). Also, if farming or herblore is currently your lowest skill, you can use Tears of Guthix to get free exp in it once a week.
February 2, 201016 yr Author Awesomesauce. Thanks for all your help - especially with the temporary boosts. I'll return to lurking until after the quest :D Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff.
February 2, 201016 yr BTW: +4 stew boost is quite common. I'd try for that. I got a +4 herb boost 3 times in ~10 stews. February 2, 201016 yr Hey if you need any help with farming, I'm all ears. The money issue is an extremely common problem, esp. since you're pairing it with herblore, another huge money sink. What you want to do is keep a moderate farming tempo. You want to achieve the farming requirement as late as possible to minimize the amount of money you will spend to get it. This will take a lot of planning, but for now, I will recommend pineapple/willows or maples, in addition to herbs/marigolds for profit, and perhaps also farm strawberries. For herblore, cleaning the right herbs can profit and yield a decent amount of xp. You should try that. If all else fails, you could spend your penguin points on herblore. Do not spend it on farming, however. If you need any further help with farming, take a look at my AoW guide. The link is in my sig. I'm sure you'll find it helpful. ~It's Super Effective! I already do herb runs with marigolds (I haven't done My Arm's big adventure yet, and I will do that before WGS) I don't do any allotment/tree runs, which I planned to do. I only need 62 farming (Around 330k exp IIRC, or around 150k to go), so... I will take a look at your guide, and will take the advice regarding farming for cash. However, I'd still like to get farming up Asap, as the higher my level, the more money I can make farming better crops while doing the other reqs. I have no idea if that makes any sense, though >_< Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff.
February 2, 201016 yr Makes sense, you just need to ask if those few days of extra snap farming or whatever are worth the higher price tag. ~It's Super Effective!
