Director topics.

Well, as some of you may know there is a lot of interest in movies on the tip.it fora, hence we have got a special "music and movies" forum. I was wondering if there would be interest in these so called director topics. In these topics we take care of various important directors in the history of (world) cinema. This goes from Steven Spielberg to Luchino Visconti and from Ridley Scott to Fritz Lang and others.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Goal

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The goal of this topic would be to give tip.it users a wider source of information, and better and new idea of the term cinema and its masters, so they can discover new things they would otherwise never hear of or see, and thus expand their knowledge.

For the content of the director topics I was thinking of a biography, style analyses, filmography with reviews, pictures and a section of links to more information about the director and his work.

Since there is so much information about all these people available, and of course I haven't seen everything by everybody it takes a lot of time to make topics like these, therefore I was wondering if there are serious (people with a serious attitude towards the subject) interest who want to help on these topics, this could be done bye giving a review, a style analysis, making a small biography (not copy pasted from IMDB of course), looking up information that others can use etc. etc.

Is there interest in these topics? Because it would a ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâwasteÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ of time if certain users spent their time and effort in these topics and people arenÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t interested in it. I think the best way to do this is making a poll in the topic and I shall ask a moderator if he can make a poll in this topic.

Alright, that's 4 who vote for it, and one against it. I think I can do one or two by myself to give a kick-off. I could do Luchino Visconti and Stanley Kubrick by myself, since I own most of their movies. :)

Meh, poor translation. What I mean is that we will do various directors on the topic. Not only unknown directors from Russia or Italy, or Spain or w/e.

ok, im still overwelmed at the thought of having a m&m forum, and im going through all the new posts right now, and i kinda just skimmed over your topic, but i think i know what you are asking. ill vote yes, but i would like to see an example of what you mean. im making an assumption here, but i think you have most likely done or read something like this on the movie forums you frequent, and i was wondering if you could cut/paste an example here. i may be able to contribute, time willing. my contributions would be from directors most of us know about, but the newbies to the movie thing might not. i dont know anything that someone else here doesnt know more about, so ill help out with the directors we all know and love, but normal people (not us movie freak people :P ) may not know about. example: kevin smith. we all know he does the comedies with jay and silent bob in them (one without) and that whole thing, but most people i know saw either mallrats, or dogma and then jay and silent bob, and dont even realize they are all part of a whole collection. all of us here know that though :wink: . anyways, enough blabering, i say yes 8)

Yea, I stole the idea from another forum, not a special movie forum though, just a subforum like here. 8) But they are pretty snobbish orientated, the director topics I mean. They are titled the forgotten grandmasters of cinema.
