whiteboy1102
GREEN DAY!!!!!!!! And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti.

Futurama
Most new stuff is more punk rock. Don't get me wrong I love it, but punk rock is very different to punk. Towers Of London are pretty damn punk even though they're new. Believe it or not my mate met them in a rock bar in town and played tongue hockey with one of the birds, lucky get. Green days older stuff was good, but way too overplayed by the phags at kerrang now. Ska punks well good, Catch 22/Less than jake/Reel Big Fish/Goldfinger, its very easy going :) Bands like Rise Against, Strike Anywhere, Fall Out Boy, and NOFX are pretty awesome, but as I say, punk rock. Thanks to all the "punk" kiddies it's impossible to wear converse without looking like you're following a trend. 1. Bubsa
You see, people, like Rob, who can differentiate what kind of 'punk' they listen to, I appreciate and admire. Nice one Bob :P This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
AThousandLies
I don't like much in the way of punk ... The Icarus Line, Amen, Sex Pistols and the Clash. I don't listen to them much, but I certainly appreciate them. I prefer post-punk; The Cure, Joy Division and similar.

biox
The Sex Pistols, the original, and still the best after 30 years. Pistols and alot of other bands from that time borrowed the sound from The Ramones - but the thing was, The Ramones didn't know what they were playing was punk. They were just a garage band from America who played a show in London, which alot of people saw and were inspired by. I like the older punk, bands like Pistols, The Clash, Radio Birdman, The Saints.. etc.. but my liking for the style came about in the late 80's when I started skating and riding BMX, with bands like Bad Religion, DRI, Suicidal Tendecies, Propaghandi.. and so on. I'm probably the worst person to talk to about music - my tastes are far too varied. Edit - Wikipedia owns man: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punk_rock The first ongoing music scene that was assigned the "punk" label appeared in New York in 1974-1976, centered around bands that played regularly at the club CBGB's in New York's Bowery district, including The Ramones, Television, Blondie, Richard Hell and The Voidoids, Mink Deville, Suicide, and Talking Heads. The "punk" title was applied to these groups by early 1976, when Punk Magazine first appeared, featuring these bands alongside articles on some of the immediate role models for the new groups, such as Lou Reed, who was on the cover of the first issue of Punk, and Patti Smith, cover subject on the second issue. During this same period, bands that would later be recognized as "punk" were forming independently in other locations as well, such as The Saints in Brisbane, Australia, and The Stranglers and the Sex Pistols in London. These early bands usually operated within small "scenes" facilitated by enthusiastic impresarios who operated small nightclubs. The nightclubs provided a showcase and meeting place for the emerging musicians (the 100 Club in London, CBGB in New York, and The Masque in Hollywood are among the best known early punk clubs). While the London bands may have played a relatively minor role in determining the early punk sound, the London punk scene would come to define and epitomize the rebellious punk culture. After a brief stint managing the New York Dolls at the end of their career in the US, Englishman Malcolm McLaren returned to London in May 1975. He started a clothing store called "Sex" that was instrumental in creating the radical punk clothing style. Inspired by the emerging New York scene, McLaren started looking to help create a similar movement in the UK. He soon organized several frequent customers of his shop into the Sex Pistols. The Sex Pistols soon created a strong cult following in London, centered on a clique known as the Bromley Contingent (named after the suburb where many of them had grown up), who followed them around the country. An oft-cited moment in punk rock's history is a July 4, 1976 concert by the Ramones at the Roundhouse in London (The Stranglers were also on the bill). Many of the future leaders of the UK punk rock scene were inspired by this show, and almost immediately after it, the UK punk scene quickly got into full swing. By the end of 1976, many fans of the Sex Pistols had formed their own bands, including The Clash, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Adverts, Generation X, The Slits and X-Ray Spex. Other UK bands to emerge in this milieu included The Damned (the first to release a single, the classic "New Rose"), The Jam and Buzz[roosters]. In November of 1976, the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned and other bands united for the Anarchy Tour, a series of gigs throughout the U.K. Many of the gigs were cancelled by venue owners, after tabloid newspapers and other media seized on sensational stories regarding the antics of both the bands and their fans. assassin_696
I don't care what they say, most of the Greenday stuff is not punk music, some of the original music was, but i don't see how a band can claim to be a punk band when their videos cost as much as a small country. They've stolen most of their riffs off other songs, and since most punk bands were being about being underground and playing in small punk stadiums. Greenday ain't that. That's not to say i don't like their music, they've had some fantastic songs, but i don't know why they keep up the pretence of being a hardcore nitty-gritty punk band. Probably for record sales... nik
yeah i cant stand rap or hip hop or R&B. as joe dirt once said "im a rocker through and through" Joe dirt also had a wig attached to his head that he never cut once. He also was a total loser! Thats ok, I like him anyways. I'd say that my top three punk bands.. I dont know. I like the sex pistols.. truthfully! I know alot of people like them because they are "real punk" I like them because.. they are good.. I remember a few years back I got a free (legit) song from some site that I loved. It was named "Mr ramon" I think it was the livinstons or something. Now I hate to say I like Green day, because I dont like their current stuff (because im told that they are good by the media and all real rockers know they are just posers! duh!!! no really, I dont like it, just changed styles alot) I like 90's greenday alot though, Nimrod is one of the only physical cd's I own. Theres my top three, I'm not a punk fan, I'm not a Emo fan, I'm not a Electronic fan, and I'm defitally not a hip-hop fan, I'm just a music fan, I like everything :D! ownmepl0x
They are complete idiots with a lack of style. They are the types of people who start fights for no reason. Dirt common people who wear caps and tracksuits or try every style fad at once making themselves ridiculous. They also tend to wear designer gear to make themselves look good but it tends to be either stolen or fake. Basically scum of society forgot about tracksuit bottoms tucked in football sock and rockport boots :P o and on topic sex pistols kick bum
Sharper
I enjoy bands like Blink 182, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Living End, Frenzal Rhomb and even newer breads like Franz Ferdinand and The Killers. I like the new age techy sort of rockin' they have been producing hehe. Although I wouldn't call thes punk though.
