Steel dragons

I'm wondering if anyone has figures on the amount of steels killed per hour with extremes and turmoil (and yak to bank bones), since I might unblock them if they're not that much worse than greaters.

Also, can you soul split them or do they hit kinda hard?

I got around 110 an hour with prossy and fero ring with turmoil, extremes, and z spear.

I haven't tried soul split but I would protect melee because with soul split you will be using it a lot.

Yeah about 120/hour with overloads and turmoil. Bandos and Z spear.

I don't get why you would ban them with super antifires now. They are about the same exp/hour as irons and drop better.

Wow you guys are fast. I can't seem to get over 100-110 an hour, and that's already with overloads (prossy with sw cape though, no bandos). (only done 3 tasks yet though).

 

But yeah, unblock them. I've recently unblocked them and I'm not regretting it. They are close to 1M an hour, and that's without their special drops. Let's say visage is a 1/3k chance, that's still one visage every 30 hours, or that makes it 1m+/h, just on visages.

 

The xp is the worst slayer xp after miths (right?), but it's still pretty damn good IMO. (20k something?). I try to convince myself into doing them by telling me that slaying them gives me a triple advantage over camping them (as if I ever would do that though): good spot, slayer mask bonuses, fero bonuses

That result most likely came from the fact that people kill far more iron dragons than steel dragons.

But look at the amount of platelegs and skirt drops from steel dragons. The number is higher than the one for iron dragons. Okay, iron drags drop them less frequently, but still.

 

However, when we are speaking about chances of 0.001 and smaller, we need much more data then 20 drops to draw conclusions, so I'll stay by my gut feeling that visages at steel drags are more common. (or at least, should be)

120/h would actually make them about as fast as desert/jungle wyrms/greaters (I usually range greaters) so thats not bad.

Killed 51 in 30 minutes, so a bit worse than I expected. I didn't bring a spec weapon though, any idea what weapon would be good?

I'm getting the same rates, and that's with overloads and paying quite a lot of attention. Can't really see where I can improve, besides sometimes losing some time when picking up a drop. (but still, I can't see how I loose 20 kills like that)

Doesn't that eat your prayer alive? I guess the extra kills (bones) and time saved are worth it, but still.

I use like 6 prayer pots per hour or something, so not really. I don't pray melee, so I actually use less prayer than I would in proselyte praying. I flick soulsplit to heal.

 

Another tip is to attack the next steel while the last one dies.

I always used ZS, but would a GS or whip+defender be any better?

Whip + Defender seems to be about the same a Z spear, or a tiny bit better. I don't have enough data to be conclusive, though. However, GS is considerably worse than either of those two.

Yeah I do try to do that, but its annoying when you hit like 4 0's in a row and have to run back to the dragon you were killing 4 times, especially because you have to right click them.

I hate that, too. I try not to have such an itchy trigger finger when I slay, which helps. :wink:

if you do do them for slayer i would just prayer melee cuz they hit some what hard but i dont know cuz i cant do any of what you said for now :(
