Is there any effective way to train Magic through combat that doesn't involve breaking open my piggy bank?

 

I'd love a way to break even or profit (without spending more than 2m). If it doesn't exist, let me know; I just need to get my magic up.

well if you are training slayer and you have the complete helmet with good stat enhancing stuff you could try and cast a spell to start off each kill. or if your killing dragons you could just cast a mind spell to get the dragons attention, i'm sure it adds up (at least in the former example).

 

 

edit: oops i misread, i thought you said magic with melee. if your looking to do magic with combat using the complete slayer helmet is almost your only good chance. however casting death rune spells on aviansies usually is -200k/+200k per hour, however you'll need 1337 gear

That's what I was afraid of.

If you invest in a staff of light and battle robes, all spells are 1/2 price. Fire surge is amazing magic xp and very powerful... though you can't use that yet. If I were you I'd invest in those two items and burst rock lobs till you can smoke barrage them-- then ice barrage till you can fire surge, then go fire surging monsters like iron dragons or tormented demons

 

another idea is just to train mage on dagannoth rex w/ god spells since the drops pay for the runes

Just resell the staff when done

Then get more money. If you want to make money you have to spend some. You don't see people going around and welfaring everything.

 

With a 2m budget you only have the money for runes, not to mention the equipment you will need.

OK, here's a 100% free way of training magic via combat.

 

1. Mine pure ess
   
2. Runecraft pure ess into combat runes
   
3. Use runes to cast combat spells on any monster
   

I've done it many times.

 

Btw, your rc and mining levels are high.

Magic training isn't cheap sadly. Your best bet would be welfaring daggonth rex. And using claws of guthix which with supplies will probably be pushing your 2m limit very severely.

sorry for hijacking the thread a bit and being a noob...but whats 1337 gear? i saw another mention of gear with numbers, and im confused as to what it means

It means 'leet' or elite. It's a reference to pro gear.

 

And it's alright to hijack - it was dead, anyway.

Fire Bolting on Blue Dragons some months ago i used to make the money for the runes from the hides. Meaning bones + other drops were profit. 10% staff, chaos gauntlets, and dagon hai + zammy book as equip, nothing LEET lol. Thought i allready had much higher mage level than you.

 

Also it's nowhere fast xp but sure less boring than non combat training.
