March 31, 201016 yr You just need to activate your second monitor. Right click desktop, click properties, choose settings, click on greyed out monitor icon, click checkbox "extend desktop onto this monitor".

March 31, 201016 yr As far as I know you cannot have dual screens that way. You have to use your graphics card or motherboad's display ports. You cannot use both. You'll need to get a card with 2 display ports, shouldn't be that expensive if you only want it for dual screens. For $80 you should get a card capable of dual screens with ease. March 31, 201016 yr Really? I could of swore I've done it before, in fact I am positive I have done it before. On multiple computers with different video cards no less. I must have just got the right video card/moboard combo a few times.
March 31, 201016 yr You can get the 8400GS off of new egg for around $36 if you have a PCI Express x16 2.0 slot on your motherboard.It will handle dual monitors with ease.
April 2, 201016 yr It's your motherboard that's the issue. Most motherboards (80% at a guess) won't let you use the integrated graphics at the same time as having a dedicated graphics card plugged in, and even then it normally means having to change something in the BIOS settings. I assume it's because they're simply built that way. PCI cards can't really handle much, you're probably better off getting a motherboard with a PCI Express x16 slot, then putting in a graphics card that can handle two monitors at the same time. Both are easy to get hold of. ~ W ~
