They have the tabbing technology down. They just have to create a clanChat aray object and place a new instance of clan chat into a tab. in short terms, they can do it with pre-existing technologies they have. I support.

What computer do you play runescape on?
geekdude replied to nightshade53's topic in General Discussion
[hide=quote] I disagree. It is completely relevant, as what makes an "awesome" setup, to me, is not 5 different LCD monitors, blazing fast PCs, and sweet-looking MAC mouses with no mousepads. A sweet setup in my world is a computer that will let me use it in a way that does not discomfort my body, allowing me to focus on the work I am doing or the game I am playing without needing to worry about my health. You guys look at a "dream mouse" and it would probably have tons of buttons and lights and other crazy features. My "dream mouse" is one that functions nicely, and feels like my hand is in a natural, comfortable position. It is clear that we value different things, and I dont think everybody needs to align themselves with my point of view, but it does worry me how extreme your desires for high-end setups are. In most of the pictures presented, I do not even see a wrist-supporting mousepad. To me, this is a travesty. I am not asking you guys to buy whole new keyboards and mouses that are the most health-friendly things on the market. But not even showing enough awareness to do yourself a favor and use a 10-20 dollar mousepad, well, its just concerning. Also people are saying I am being rude. Thats funny, because all I am talking about is concern for YOUR health. I am spreading awareness so that you can live longer, happier, more comfortable lives and you return the favor by deeming it as rudeness. Thats okay, though. Why? Because I have studied enough psychology to know that all of your responses have just come from your primitive, illogical defense mechanisms. I have shown you a news article about the dangers of multi tasking. A simple Google search of "carpal tunnel" will tell you that buying more ergonomic products help to prevent this stupidly preventable ailment. Why do you think ergonomic products develop? Why do you think safety manuals and labels come with our electronics? The problem is real, and your setups are doing nothing to sustain your health. The ammount of delusional denial in this thread is just insane. Sorry folks, but uncomfortable and unnatural computer setups poses real health issues. I used to have wrist pain when I was younger, then I started using better setups and it went away. My dad works in an office and developed carpal tunnel. He needed surgery. Did he have a moue pad? No. Was his computer situated in a strange place on his desk? Yes. Thousands of people develop health problems from computer use. It isn't made up, sorry. No matter how much your mind wishes that it WAS made up. EDIT: I would also like to add that people seem to have terrible misunderstandings of scientific research. You guys read articles and find something like "The correlation is not completely certain." and then you discredit the article as being untrue. This is how the scientific community works. Its like the creations who say "Darwin's THEORY of evolution? Well, creation is a THEORY too, then!" But, they just have a complete misunderstanding of the scientific community's definition of "theroy". The same is for the CNN article I cited. They have to say these things, because it is extremely hard, in any field of science, to make conclusive, precise, and absolutely confident claims. In studies of human behaviour, it is even harder to make these claims because of how much we don't yet know about the brain. Them telling you that a correlation is uncertain doesn't mean that there isnt a good probability of them being correct. To make concrete claims on scientific research takes decades upon decades of testing, confirming, and retesting. This doesn't mean we can ignore preliminary findings. [/hide] I work as a part-time software developer and web designer. I write thousands of words and perform thousands of keystrokes a day for 6-8 hours a day. I have been doing this for 4 years now. That is not a significant amount of time. You are being rude by telling all of us that we are ruining our bodies by using these flashy computers and peripherals. That is defiantly not the case. I have never used a ergonomic desk, mouse, keyboard my whole life and My bones are in perfect shape. There are external factors to consider in most medical cases which document people operating a computer in a non-ergonomic way. Your definition of a dream mouse is your definition. My mouse looks cool, has many buttons, but is still "Safe to use". You also have to factor in the peoples living environments. I live with my parents and sister in a 1200 sq-ft rent house in the middle in Kentucky. There is no room to place a computer desk, so I use a crappy table to hold my monitors and a large chair as a place to sit, hold mouse, and hold keyboard. You have no right to tell us that our setups are dangerous to our health. If we want to do something to effect our body then it is our choice. It is not yours, our parents, or higher (corrupted) powers. If our setups do not directly effect you then don't complain about it. You and your dad could of had a genetic disorder or something passed down from earlier generations. That does not justify the need for me to use a special desk. My uncle is 56, has been working with computers for 25 years, and doesn't use a ergonomic setup at all. He has never had wrist or any health problems other then a genetic case of diabetes. Not every person is alike. -
How do I find out what language was used...?
geekdude replied to the_pretzel1's topic in Programming and Web Design
You can tell what some programs are made in by the way it looks. Then again, some look the same. Most software in .net langugages (vb and c#) and c/c++ have a typical Windows look and you can usually tell a java made application. Then again, software developers can paint special GUI characteristics to give the application a new feel. -
Today I spent 14 hours straight on my c++ game engine. I am tired as hell. on the subject of nudity aforementioned; If people were not so focused on the sexual aspects of everything and more in tuned with the beauty in a non-sexual way, half of the problems with nudity would be gone. Breasts are a natural part of the female body. Even though they make you little kiddies happy, they are nothing to be afraid of or to get over-dramatic about.

There is this thing called a server which the game runs on and these people called developers, artists, community support, etc which need to put food on the table. ( Sorry for run-on). That is where your money is going. Don't pay for membership if you don't like the way Jagex is running Runescape. I think they are doing a great job, its you ranters who make every update seem unpleasant and pointless. Not every update has to be extravagant and over the edge. Until you have completed every quest, get 200m xp in each skill, have max cash, and have every item, there is still other content for you to do.

What computer do you play runescape on?
geekdude replied to nightshade53's topic in General Discussion
Proper Multitasking, like watching a movie & working at the same time, or watching a movie and playing RS (I only have a 17 inch monitor and a 19 inch TV that doubles up as a monitor, so I don't have enough real estate to just use parts of the screen for each thing). I do a lot of web design and coding and it is very helpful to see the code and application or code and website on separate screens. Even bill gates uses multiple monitors [source]. As tripsis said, its useful to have multiple monitors to multitask tasks. -

I use macs for digital photograph editing and video/media production. They suck at everything else. I use my gaming machine a few pages back for software development and gaming. -

What are you programming there? :D I'll be honest: I don't rate your.. desk? :P Its a portable/temp setup at my parents so that explains the desk. I am working on a few modules for my website. For example, if I were to visit http://myurl.extension/modules.php?type=guide&id=thegame-youjustlost it would pull up a guide on such and such a subject. I am now building the administrative panel of this. It's pretty simple :) *goes off and makes some bacon to eat while i lurk forums* -

Multicore CPU support, anisotropic filter
geekdude replied to Karvinen's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
You have support from me. The game should cater both to lower end PC's and higher end as well. I hope they will have more technical features once they release their non-browser client. I hope we can eventually break the 30 fps barrier as well. I have three NVIDIA 9800s in SLI mode but I still get around 30 FPS in Runescape but over 100 in most other games at max graphic settings. -
I get around $250.00 a week for teaching older people how to use basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic internet usage. I also work full-time at Best Buy as a network installer (running cable, terminating ends, setting up server systems, etc) making $35 an hour.

Would like to make a game like Arena Scape
geekdude replied to Siedge's topic in Programming and Web Design
Start off with something small then expand on it. You could build a basic game with one skill then slowly add new skills and figure out ways to make some skills interact. As another user said, I would not try and create my first game using a web-based language. Java, VB, or Python would work for non web based games. The first game I ever made was a pong game in VB. I started with player vs. player. After i got the concepts down, I added player vs computer(AI). By the time I was done with it, I could have four players playing against each other at the same time over a LAN or the internet. I was 13 when I made that. I am 18 now. So just start with basic concepts then expand upon them. -
I better be careful at CS LAN parties.

You know what, it sounds funny until you think about it happening to you. You are right :(
