Barrows Guide - Edited - My Method

Weebler00

Recommended Posts

This is a guide to Barrows.

1. About this guide.

This is my first guide, it's very nooby, I know.

This guide is simply the method I use, Slayer Dart + Melee combo. There are other methods out there.

For this guide you'll need to have done Priest in Peril. You need 55 Slayer and 50 Magic.

2. [hide=Equipment & Inventory]

setup2.pnginv.png

BGS can be swapped out for another weapon, namely Whip, DDS, Claws, or another GS. If you use a whip, switch out the Guthix book for a good shield. Tassets and BCP can be swapped out for barrows pieces, dragon, or rune. Also, Neitz helm can be replaced by a barrows helm. Cape can be replaced by a trimmed skillcape, firecape, or god cloak. Also note that I brought too many runes. This amount isn't needed.

[/hide]

3. [hide=Getting there.]

Start at the gate west of the Canifis city, by the farming patch.

bbb.png

Make sure run is on the entire time you get to the bridge, where to gloomy effect of Mort Myre ends. Drop any food that the Ghasts turned rotten. From there, "Listen" to Bill Blakey.

bbbb.png

Once you have full run energy again, take this path to Barrows itself.

[/hide]

4. [hide=The Fights]

bbbbbb.png

Key: Dharok = Blue

Black = Guthan

Lime Green = Verac

Yellow = Torag

Red = Ahrim

Brown = Karil

I fight them in this order: Dharok, Verac, Karil, Ahrim, Torag, Guthan. Of course, this order may be messed up by the line "You have found a hidden tunnel, do you wish to enter?". Select the "No" option, and finish the rest of the order. Come back to this room later.

To access a room, climb to the top of the hill of the brother you want (the brothers are shown above) and "Dig" with your spade in the center of it. Once inside, search the Sarcophagus inside to make the brother spawn.

When fighting, I use the Prayers / Pots / Food below:

Pray Protect / Deflect Melee against Dharok.

Pray Protect / Deflect Magic against Ahrim.

Pray Protect / Deflect Ranged against Karil.

Piety or another stat boosting prayer + Combat pot + food agains Verac, Torag, and Guthan.

When fighting the brothers, I attack them with this style:

I Slayer Dart 100% of the fight against Dharok, Torag, and Guthan.

I use my BGS spec, or whatever spec weapon I have, at the beginning of the fight against Verac, and Slayer Dart the rest.

I melee Karil and Ahrim using BGS or whip.

5. [hide=Rewards & Getting to the Reward Chest]

To get to the reward chest, you run through doors, and you'll soon find the 6th and final brother. Beat him. Then, keep going through doors. Eventually, one door will have a puzzle. If you solve this puzzle correctly, you'll get to the corridor that leads to the Treasure room. If you get the puzzle wrong, simply keep going through doors till you find another door with a puzzle.

The rewards are 100% random.

You can get rewards such as a D Med, Runes, Bolt Racks, and all the barrows pieces. However, you rarely recieve Barrows items, and a 2 Barrows item chest is extremely rare. Once you get the reward, pick it up if it spawned on the ground due to a full / mostly full inventory, and tele out. If you plan on getting multiple runs in, bring a Teleport to House tablet. Once in your POH (play owned home) use your Kharyll teleport, or go to W31, and use somebody elses.

He's one of my rewards:

Please, post some constructive criticism.

Why a slayer helmet? That strikes me as the most odd.

You should look at some other barrows guides that already exist in the AoW and also the one on the Tip.it site to get a better idea of what's already covered and try and see if you can come up with anything new or cover a previously not very well documented aspect of barrows.

first, wrong section.

Second, You give an ineffective way to get there.

Third, cost=/=effectiveness. As you aren't meleeing, the strength amulet, dragon boots, and bandos is all useless. Throw on a verac's skirt and brassard, along with a neit helm and blessed spirit shield, wear a fury, inf boots, and void mace and cast claws of guthix. Bring A black d'hide body+magic short bow for Ah and a Whip+Defender/dds/claws/god sword for karils.

Lastly, don't call something an "in-depth guide" when it only explains the basics and does that poorly. :thumbdown:

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Any of those helms you listed would be an upgrade from a Slayer Helmet. And a Neitz is so cheap any way, it would be best to use unless you use barrows.

And why would you not use a shield with your setup any way? If anything an unholy book or Falador Shield 3 would be great. And using magic on Ahrim and Karil seem like a bad idea if you can use a DDS/Whip/GS.

Also a Fury or Glory would probably be better then the Str ammy as you aren't even using melee in your setup.

I'm sure there is some more things that can help out your guide, oh and also wrong section it should go in the Beginner Guides of the AoW section of the forums.

I said Melee on Karil and Ahrim, which I did bring Strength Ammy for. This guide sucks, IK. So Cpt, please actually read. Melee is in there. Lol.

Also, I realized this was in the wrong section after I posted it, miserable fail by me. XD.

A shield is something I generally don't use, seeing as I GS the majority of everything I kill, unless I Slayer Dart it.

Also, the entire guide is being edited.

fifth: if you haven't noticed, he's got a slayer staff in his inv and equipped, and sixth: this guide more or less makes you lose money...should've called it "how to lose 80m at barrows effectively" or "I went to barrows and wasted 250k per inv, and all i got was this lousy guide"

This is an in-depth guide to Barrows.

Before we begin, my guide is made on an 80M budget. If you can't afford this, I also offer downgrades that work perfectly. If you're on a bigger budget, feel free to make upgrades.

1. First off, let's start with requirements.

You NEED a spade, and completion of the quest "Priest in Peril" is needed, also.

For this guide, you'll need 50 Magic, and 55 Slayer.

2. [hide=Equipment & Inventory]

bb.png

bbbbb.png

What you wear on your way there doesn't matter.

Downgrades: You can use a Neitiznot, Farseer, or Berserker helm. Dragon armour, Rune armour, or Barrows armour all work well instead of bandos. You can also use a whip with a good shield when using melee, too.

[/hide]

This inventory can easily get you 2-5 runs per inv.

3. [hide=Getting there.]

bbb.png

Make sure you have RUN on all the way to the little bridge, where the blue line ends.

Once you get there, listen to Blakey Bill to regain your run energy. However, don't run the rest of the way to Barrows.

The rest of the path to Barrows is pretty easy, just keep walking west.

bbbb.png

[/hide]

4. [hide=The Fights]

bbbbbb.png

Key: Dharok = Blue

Black = Guthan

Lime Green = Verac

Yellow = Torag

Red = Ahrim

Brown = Karil

Fight them in this order: Dharok, Verac, Karil, Ahrim, Guthan, Torag.

However, skip the one that has the line "You've found a hidden tunnel, do you want to enter?" Simply walk away from that until all the other brothers are defeated.

To get into a room, walk to the top of the hill of the brother that you want, as seen above, and "Dig" with your spade. Inside, search the Sarcophagus to make the brother appear.

Use your Slayer Dart magic on the brothers that use melee, which are Dharok, Verac, Guthan, and Torag.

Use you Magic method against the mager, Ahrim, and against the ranger, Karil.

Use the Protect From Melee or Deflect Melee against Dharok, Guthan, and Torag.

Use the Protect From Magic or Deflect Magic against Ahrim.

Use the Protect from Ranged or Deflect Ranged against Karil.

Don't use prayer against Verac; he hits through it, as does a player when wearing full Verac's.

You won't get drops from the brothers; you get a reward at the very end.

Thanks for reading!

No you said to use you magic method on Ahrim and Karil. Here i will underline it for you. And if you do use a GS or do Melee, why isn't there a picture of your weapon in the setup?

we have been helping him, nearly every post on this thread is constructive criticism. I'd also like to point out that a black salamander+guthans+ice barrage is the most cost effective way to barrows as you use practically no sups besides tar.

I edited some mess-ups in this guide. Changing the set-up I have, by changing to neitz and maybe a 2nd inventory idea.

The criticism has been constructive, thanks. Also made the title a little more clear. This is the Slayer Dart and Melee method.

Also, this is my first guide. ;x

I'll try and add in the Black Salamander, too.

About this being in the wrong section, I'll PM a mod asking him to move it.
