Guthans fails...need a new idea.

Featured Replies

Ok so on my last 15 or so attempts at the firecape using guthans i made it close to the end and failed badly, i was wondering what a good setup (perferable not all range because im not good at luring) for getting through the waves and to jad was.

Well, I'd say Guthan's is the best, but...

You can try using an Enhanced Excalibur, which heals 200 Lifepoints with it's special attack, and also gives a defence boost.

You've tried guthans and don't have soul split, to my knowledge there are no other magical ways around luring. My only advice is to use a karil's/crystal bow and lure, its a very very simple concept that I'm sure you can manage to do. If you want tips I will gladly post them.

In all honesty, the topic title is a misnomer, Guthans doesn't fail, since so many others, myself included, used it to get the fire cape. Redirecting the blame to Guthans rather than yourself just hampers your own ability to take responsibility as to why you can't beat the caves.

Anyway, have you tried using Guthans coupled with SGS? The first 2 times I used those two I failed, first time I tried to save prayer and didn't protect from the 360 quick enough. The second time I panic'd at Jad when the healers spawned.

But finally the third time, I didn't need to use any healing until Jad, and even at Jad I only used 3 doses of sara brew, which was more for security than anything, didn't need them to stay alive.

And my ranging level was (and still is) lower than yours.

no i do take blame for failing the caves but i also blame guthans for not healing me when i needed it ( wave with the 360, 90, and 180) used my ee's spec and ran out of food from a mishap with the first 360 wave. I dont know anyone that lends a sgs but i do know their extremely expensive and i cant afford to borrow 1. Any more advice that could help me through it.

Hey there, you can borrow mine if you want.

If you want to do the caves now, hit me up fast in game before I teleport to my next slayer task.

ok should i stick to crystal bow or switch to rune c'bow and broads (i cant afford diamond or emerald(e) bolts). ill be using pray pots with sharks for healing during emergancies.

i probably wont do it until tomorrow or monday as i've got work to do today.

Well, I brought rune c bow and broads + enchanted diamond, but I forgot I had the diamonds with me until after Jad was dead... So I'd go with broads.

For healing, I brought super restores, sara brews, ranging pots, and 4 rocktails. But I brought the rocktails in place of super restores, because I found out I had plenty of prayer left over. I'd stick with prayer restores if you find you are running out of prayer.

reason i was using pray pots is because i have 150 of them in my bank(from gathering and creating for herb xp) and i use them fairly often for slayer. I dont have alot of money atm and super restores + brews cost a heafty chunk of money which is why i combine EE spec, guthans spec, and Sharks for healing.

If you can't afford basic supplies like that, you'd be better off getting money and not trying to beat it with welfare crap if you feel that it's going bad for you.

Looking at your stats...just an EE should be more then enough when wearing something like D hide with a granite shield TBH. Are you killing the level 90s as your second priority? Overall, the easiest tips I can give you is.

the North side of the italy rock is your best friend

Monsters are easy to get stuck on each other

Assuming you're doing everything else right, the levels 90s will be the ones dealing almost all of the damage to you. So hunt them down fast and kill them.

an SGS is more then enough to keep me alive during the fight cave (even when I was at lower levels)

I never took a liking the guthans method as I didn't like switching armour and weapons.

Try bringing ancients and blood bursting/blitzing for health. It's expensive, but it's an option. Just substitute ahrim's/mystic top/bottom for the guthan's.

I used

- Veracs Helm

- Black D'hide body

- Veracs Skirt

- Unholy book

- BLK Vambs

- Dragon boots

- Rune Crossbow

- Amulet of fury

- Archers ring

- Ava's Baggy

- 1k Diamond E bolts

20 Super restore pots

7 Sara Brews

1 Range pot

All (4)

Stats at time:

81 Range

80 Defence

72 Prayer

Got on second try.

Your stats are similar, I think you could do it, just keep trying.
