Ok, under advice from my friend I decided to farm ranarrs instead of avantoes. However, it seems to me that with ranarrs there's less profit (50 ranarr seeds makes about 500k (1.7m cost, 2.2m back), while avantoes gave more (100 ranarr seeds gave me 4.5m (500k on seeds, 5m herbs)). Under the conditions that I specify, and with the conditions that you make up, which is better?

 

Mine:

Supercompost, min yeald, 1 always dies.

Well it seems you might have misplaced a few words. I think that the ranarrs should be avantoes on the second line. And you can just use 6.67 herbs per seed as that is calced when using super compost, magic secateurs, and the trollheim patch. Deaths is also calculated in the 6.67 herbs so you don't have to do that separately.

If you can follow it, that is how i figured it out. Ranarrs profit 27.1k per seed and avantoes profit 32.4k per seed, if you use the med price for grimy herbs and seeds. And it may also seem that avantoes give more exp then ranarrs as well.

Avantoes look like the way to go then.

Using your conditions, you'll get 20 herbs per run.

 

5 Ranarr seed = 5 x 33,500 = 167,500

20 Ranarr herbs = 20 x 9,157 = 183,140

Profit = 15,640

 

Avantoe seed = 5 x 4,915 = 24,575

20 Avantoe herbs = 20 x 5,699 = 113,980

Profit = 89,405

 

But, realistically you get about 6 herbs per seed, so...

 

5 Ranarr seed = 5 x 33,500 = 167,500

30 Ranarr herbs = 30 x 9,157 = 274,710

Profit = 107,210

 

Avantoe seed = 5 x 4,915 = 24,575

30 Avantoe herbs = 30 x 5,699 = 170,970

Profit = 146,395

 

Looks like Avantoe wins either way. All this is really dependent on the seed and herb prices at the time, so this could change.

I've had a hard time selling herbs in general, but Avantoes are particularly difficult, yes. I have about 350 avantoe seeds left. <_<

Just keep them. From time to time I've been burning off my stock too, but I'm keeping mine until the next exp weekend or something :)

I don't like it either, but jagex is planning the next one as we speak, and I intend to take advantage of it.
