Mining/ smithing rant

Featured Replies

While I was mining and smithing Mithril I kind of dawned on me whose bright idea was this to make us mine 4,6, or 8 coal rocks to get one Mithril, Adamant or Runite bar? I understand that we need coal in all but why so many?

Maybe the designers didn't want these ores to be used for training, but for making equipment for use.

It only that equipment wasn't so low level and useless.

Initially it was the best in the game. Mining and smithing are very old and equally outdated skills.

This. Back then, mining and smithing were the only way to get good armour. Or atleast on some extent. It was considered as the best moneymaker at high levels by far. But this was back in classic. So that leaves them very outdated, though you can still make money out of them.

Quests just keep bringing me back to this game.

Now thanks to the G.E. you can now buy your Armour but at lease cut down number of coal you use.

Yeah that's just it, it's a Member feature what about us F2P players what do we get.... nothing.

Sonic9.png

What do you F2P players pay?

Nothing.

I mean..It's not like you just got A WHOLE NEW SKILL or something..

You have low mining and smithing levels, so it's not like you have an understanding of what its like to smith things of higher quality. Anyways I don't really know what you are ranting about...

Mining and smithing but anyone can vent about what they like don't or like about both skills.

We don't care if we pay anything or not. What we DO care, though, is when members like you stereotype us F2P with this kind of garbage.

Anyways, on to the topic at hand. Well, it's not like mining the coal is a bad thing either. In fact, this gives you an incentive to mine more coal and stuff.

Since Dungeoneering I actually enjoy training smithing now.

Sonic, please look at the post before mine.

Perhaps it'd help you see why I posted that.

This rant has gone from complaining about coal ore to an argument about membership.

Anyway Dungeoneering makes mining and smithing "fun" (as mining and smithing get"

If you click on them they hatch or grow up faster and look awesomer!!!

87.5% of all statistics are made up on the spot. If you're one of the 42% of statistics that doesn't, copy and paste this into your sig. In addition, 126.324% of the previous statement does not make sense.

Nah, mining is the most fun when you're trippin' balls, staring at the bright desert sand, mindlessly clicking for 5 straight hours. The screen starts to turn purple.

To the OP, it shouldn't matter because there is neither rhyme nor reason to smelt mithril or anything above that. If you're going to smelt, go for gold (actually, I don't know if that's the best in f2p, but mithril is still worse), or try smithing addy bars.

True Please stay on topic.

Meh. Way too much has become outdated. The potential to obtain mithril gear easily was a wonder when I started playing 5 years ago. Now I finally can, and my dragon longsword is outdated!

Ummmmmm.....................

Not much to say.

Complain as you like about Jagex, but think about what they've done. How many MMORPG designers go around to creating as complex an in-game world as Jagex? They do need to get around to making a equipable knife, though.

With everyone's complaining about updates, it's amzing that there isn't a forum topic on the fact that the chat box says "You can't reach that" (as opposed to "I can't reach that!").

Point is, high level bars used to make high level equipment that costs more should cost more to make as well. So, simplest solution? Need more coal per bar.

Simple.

Not to mention, it probably would have looked just a bit strange if the higher level ores had the same smelting requirements as the lower levels. Not that I don't sometimes get irritated at the higher amounts of coal. But that's usually when I'm starting to run low the stuff and still have a ways to go.
