Armor suggestions

Well I recently went P2P, and am amazed at the variety of armor I see prancing around me at the GE.

I am at a loss though, any stores I have checked out are just the same as before, selling plate and chain, so where do you get some of these nice and different armors from ?

Questing ? Mini games ?

I turned level 72 last night, working my combat stats up to 60 each at the moment, then Ill skill a bit, and then work the stats up to 70.

Suggestions for armor, Ive been earning good coin lately got 3.5 mil in the bank at the moment, and can, if I work at it, make a million a day, maybe a bit less if it is real busy.

Thanks for any and all recommendations.

Did you know half the worlds population is below average intelligence?

Many people think we are getting smarter as a whole, but we are UNIVERSALLY getting dumber and dumber at an alarmingly fast rate.

Metaphorically.... the human race is on its way to hell in a hand-basket made of dry wicker.

they come mostly from minigames and boss drops. you'll quickly find that that shops in members are little used. sadly, best armor at lvl 60 is mostly still rune, as dragon and granite usually aren't worth it at their cost. if you want to buy temporary armor untill you get barrows, Use Granite plate, Dragon legs, and beserker's helm (need to do freminik trials first) with a rune defender for shield (from the warriors guild) however, these are somewhat expensive, and you should definitely get 70 attack and an abyssal whip first, then worry about good armor. the armor you will prob want at 70 def is full torag's, high def for low price.

Hey Thanks Linkz, I should have mentioned I am in Rune at the moment, I guess it is obviously the only choice for the time being.

I do like the looks of black DHide, but wont be wearing that for some time.

Thanks again.

Most regular types of armour you're going to see are (not a complete list):

Dragon (the red ones). Requires 60 def but is mainly bought for it's looks and is considered by most to be overpriced. Is acheived by monster drops with most parts dropped by indevidual monsters

Barrows (the sorta grey/brown one). Requires 70 def. Everyone should own some barrows if they have the required levels. Have pretty much the best armour stats and if you're using a whole set, they have set affects.

The different types of barrows armour are:

Guthans: If using a whole set it can heal you when you hit. Quite expensive and not used by many higher levels because of other methods of healing

Torags: Best armour for stats (i think). Stat effect is useless (think it drains run energy)

Ahrims: Good mage armour

Karils: Good range armour, used particularly where mage def is required

Dharok: Don't use if you don't know what you're doing. has a set affect of hitting very high if you're on low health. So if you can get down to low lp and then use a protect from prayer to make sure you won't be hit, it's possible to hit in the thousands though it is very risky

Veracs: Great pray bonus. decent armour (it's the type I use the most)

These pieces are obtainable from playing the barrows minigame and the pieces are tradable.

Void (the black and while stripy one). Not particularly good def stats but as a set (helm, top, bottom and gloves) have the set affect of hitting 15% higher and 15% more accurately (i think).

Only obtainable by playing the pest control minigame. Items not tradable.

Proselyte: (The white one). Used for best pray bonus. Decent def stats. Obtainable after some quests

Rune: (the blue one) I assume you know this. Decent low level armour.

Armadyl: (the white and silver one). Used for it's massive range bonuses. very expensive. Has negative mellee bonuses. Obtainable from GWD

Bandos armour (the browney/grey/white/something one) Very good high end mellee armour. Very expensive. Obtainable from GWD

This is a very quick run down on all the main armours. Of course there and 100's more and you can't forget costumes and clothes for skill training (hunter springs to mind)

My advice: Do quests. Lots of them. Just go quest mad. unlock some dragon weapons (like the longsword). It's good for your level. Stick with rune armour until you're about level 70 all combat stats but use a dragon wep asap. Train by slayer burthorpe.

Add me ingame if you need advice.

give F2P a penny and they want a dime; give P2P a quarter, they want 100,000 dollars, your car, house, boat, social security number, credit card numbers, drivers license, clothes on your back and everything you ever owned or interacted with ever

For lower level, cheap armour you should check out rockshell: cheaper than rune yet same stats (like 30k last time I bought).

A higher tier almost immediatelly is barrows.. (cheap barrows goes for ~1m atm)

As for ranged armour: use the best dragonhide! (often very cheap)

Also during quest you'll be introduced to countless of specific pieces of armour (most which are useless)..

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Dragon is only a modest improvement over rune. Some dragon armor pieces are quite cheap these days, though. Especially the skirt, legs, med, and square. They're a nice cheap nondegradeable alternative to barrows even at high levels. Med is probably not worth buying once you can get a berserker/neitiznot helm. Square is useful for some sorts of tanking but for melee training you'll want a rune defender. Legs are more expensive than skirt by some amount, and both are decent choices if you can't/don't want to use barrows.

Dragon weapons, on the other hand, are absolutely essential. They should be your first goal. Skip the longsword for the time being and go for the scimitar. It's hard, but well worth it. Then go back and get a dagger for special attacks.

Disclaimer: The above is probably inaccurate.

Thanks again for the replies.

Not too worry Schmual( name reminds me of the Boy in the Striped Pajamas, 'Schmuel' is the little boys name, really just a great film), I am questing like mad as well.

I try every day to at least work on quests fro an hour or so, so maybe not quite like mad, but I can see their importance, they open up the game, make a lot of content accessible and generally are a key to having fun, and gaining a deeper understanding of the 'game' of Runescape.

Thanks again, I hope one day I am able to return the favor.

Have a great weekend.
